However we still need to continue to stay away from people, for now which is exceedingly hard.  Thanks for all the prayers, God is still in control and hears us when we call. A better day is coming! Miss all of you and continue to keep you in our prayers as well! Stay safe, sane, and healthy!

I John 5:14-15 “This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. And if we know that He hears us -whatever we ask- we know that we have what we asked of Him.”

Baptism: It’s The Right Thing To Do

by Michael Lewis

August 30, 2020

This church believes in baptism as the way to access God’s grace through what Jesus did on the cross for us.

“Then Jesus went from Galilee to the Jordan River to be baptized by John. But John tried to talk him out of it. “I am the one who needs to be baptized by you,” he said, “so why are you coming to me?“ But Jesus said, “It should be done, for we must carry out all that God requires.” So John agreed to baptize him. After his baptism, as Jesus came up out of the water, the heavens were opened…And a voice from heaven said, “This is my dearly loved Son, who brings me great joy.”  -Matthew 3:13-17

“Jesus came and told his disciples, “I have been given all authority in heaven and on earth. Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”  -Matthew 28:18-20

Acts 2:36-38; Acts 16:29-34; Romans 10:13; Acts 22:16; Romans 6:1-4; Ephesians 2:8; Galatians 3:26-27

Baptism is where we make a public statement about how, from that point forward, we are under new management, the Lordship of Jesus.

Baptism is:

  1. A request for newness that only the power of God can create.
  2. A declaration of faith, not an addition to faith, but an expression of faith.
  3. A call for unity.
  4. A pledge of allegiance.

Church Family Update…

This morning Christian Eggar is with us… Christian’s hometown is Miles City, Montana. He graduated from York College this past spring with a Bible/Ministry Degree. We are thankful to talk with him about our ministry opportunity in Youth and Worship. Please pray for our search process.

A big thank you… Last week we mentioned an important need that one of our families is facing. And as always, the church family here came though; thanks.

Thanks to Betty Rude and her crew for taking on the Youth Barn clean-up… For too long the Youth Barn has been treated as a giant storage area for things we wanted to move out of the church building (a collection of old furniture, tables, seats for the van taken out for more luggage space and much more). All these things have now been sorted through (and except for the van seats) have been given away or hauled off. Thanks to all who worked on this project, and a special thank you to Betty.

Ladies Retreat… October 2-4  Spend the night or just go for the day! There is still room! Accommodations will be at Savenac Historic Tree Nursery in Montana. Call the office for more information and to sign up.

Family Promise…We are in Special Need of Meal Volunteers starting TODAY, August 30 – September 5 2020. It’s Easy to Help: Pick a night you’d like to provide a meal. We are Thankful for the time you give to Family Promise. Call: Stephanie 208-755-5142

Free T-shirts in the Small Auditorium Today… As well as some items from the Christian school to make an offer  on. Check it out!

When will our Bible Classes resume? …Well, in reality, we don’t know. We long to get back to the ways things were, but we cannot do that as long as COVID cases are still increasing in our area. But, as soon as most our children, parents, and teachers feel comfortable we will resume our Bible classes. Stay tuned.

Prayers and Thanksgivings…

Harold & Trisha Schultz: Please pray for Tracie & her children. Please pray for good influences and good friends for Mia & Malik and guidance for Tracie.

Scott & Karmen Rouse: Please keep John & Beth Cope in prayer and that Beth heals quickly. Prayers for Jolene, Andy & Darcy’s daughter-in-law. She had a serious interaction with a new medication. They feel that she will be fine. Thank you to everyone for the prayers. Safe travel for all those on the road.

Michael & Carmen Lewis: Prayers for Treva Vogl – immunology IV treatment for kidney cancer; Sally Truitt – surgery and treatment for oral cancer for healing and positive results and no side effects.

Bob Clark: We are anxiously awaiting results of Irene’s latest CT scan.  Please pray for a good result.

AJ Stemmene: Thanks for all Ronda and Sandra do to keep the church running smoothly and looking so good! God Bless and thank you.  Bless Dale Herboldt as he became an elder and for his family support.

Misty Stemmene: Prayers for my Aunt Tony and family at the loss of her husband. God bless everyone.

Glenn & Judie Sanborn: Thank you from our hearts to all of you who called, sent cards, flowers and food to bless us when Mother, Betty Evans passed on. She is home.

Part 7:
“To Bless Others”
by Michael Lewis

August 23, 2020

People matter to God and, therefore, people matter to God’s people.

“I am writing to Philemon, our beloved co-worker, and to our sister Apphia, and to our fellow soldier Archippus, and to the church that meets in your house.”  -Philemon 1b, 2

Galatians 6:1-8; Galatians 6:9-10

Principles About Blessing:

  1. We bless by helping to carry another’s burdens. (Gal 6:10)
  2. But blessing others can be a drain.

Here’s the simple math of Galatians:

  • Jesus plus nothing equals everything
  • Jesus plus obedience equals gratitude
  • Jesus times blessing others, always multiples God’s blessing in our lives

We can only become stronger in the broken places if Jesus and His people help with the healing.

“… you who are spiritual should restore him gently.”  -Galatians 6:1

Church Family Update…

Dale Herboldt becomes one of our shepherds today.

Updates… We are bumping or Bible classes back to October, still waiting until our teachers and student feel a bit more comfortable. We are moving our Mission Sunday to November 1 Trying to stay flexible:)

Masks… Please check in the lobby. We have paper and cloth masks (cotton 3-layers) for anyone who would like one or two!

From Our Elders…

Several weeks ago the elders paused our search for a youth minister and worship leader. With the COVID outbreak, it just seemed too difficult to bring candidates in from other areas of the country or for our congregation to feel comfortable then about how we could participate in any kind of normal church life. However, an opportunity has unexpectedly presented itself. A young man who is just completing an internship with a congregation in Helena, Montana, has contacted us. He has a passion for youth ministry and loves to sing also.

His name is Christian Eggar, and earlier this year he graduated from a Christian college in Nebraska called York College with a Bible ministry degree. The elders have invited him to come over next Saturday, August 29th, to conduct a youth devotional in our Prayer Garden at 7pm. All interested youth and parents are invited. Christian will then lead worship for us the next morning, August 30th.

We believe we can safely gather with proper precautions to see if Christian is a possibility for us. We ask for your prayers and your participation to the extent you are comfortable providing it. Thanks.

Freda Campbell: Pray for the family of Joy Campbell. She passed away last Sunday.
