Encouragement from David Bruner

Encouraging note for week of March 24

This past month I have had the opportunity to teach the adult class on I Thessalonians. Several times Paul talked about encouraging others. In I Thessalonians 5:11 he says: ‘Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.’ Then he also reminds us in Ephesians 4:29  ‘Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs that it may benefit those who listen.’ When we encourage others we should be building them up, but have you ever stopped to think that what we say or do may not be building others up? It could be discouraging. We need to be intentional with what we say and do that others are built up. We need to be encouraging, kind, and loving as God would like us to be.
