Church Family Update…

Food In-Security in America…  It’s a new expression created out of the pandemic. We used to talk about those who went to bed hungry every night in one of the richest countries in the world. Such hungry people tended to live within inner cities or in impoverished areas of Appalachia. But now there are millions of people in America who are hungry because they have been laid off, furloughed, fired, and have to make the choice between buying groceries or paying something on their rent. There are about 75 million Americans suffering from food insecurity.”

Sometimes we are uneasy about suggesting that others take advantage of our food pantry and too embarrassed about asking to visit the pantry ourselves… Our food pantry exists to bless others with physical needs. It is OK to encourage your neighbors or people you meet in need to visit our food pantry.  Folks, it is OK for any of us in need to ask  about taking advantage of our pantry. It is why it exists. It is why we exist, to bless our community.

Scott Rouse continues teaching the adult class on the Book of Ruth through the end of the month… You can study Ruth, in person or by the LIVE STREAM. Kirk Davidson will be teaching the adult Bible class in January.

Family Promise is December 27-January 2… Sign up to help online with the meal train link. You can also call Emily Moore or the church office to participate.

Please let us know if anyone has any need… This is one time when it is good to talk about each other. If you know of someone’s specific need or someone feeling particularly discouraged, please pass this along to the church office.

Don’t forget our coat drive… We are looking for any new or gently worn coats (any size). Drop them off soon. Thanks.
