Baptism: It’s The Right Thing To Do

This church believes in baptism as the way to access God’s grace through what Jesus did on the cross for us.
“Then Jesus went from Galilee to the Jordan River to be baptized by John. But John tried to talk him out of it. “I am the one who needs to be baptized by you,” he said, “so why are you coming to me?“ But Jesus said, “It should be done, for we must carry out all that God requires.” So John agreed to baptize him. After his baptism, as Jesus came up out of the water, the heavens were opened…And a voice from heaven said, “This is my dearly loved Son, who brings me great joy.” -Matthew 3:13-17
“Jesus came and told his disciples, “I have been given all authority in heaven and on earth. Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” -Matthew 28:18-20
Acts 2:36-38; Acts 16:29-34; Romans 10:13; Acts 22:16; Romans 6:1-4; Ephesians 2:8; Galatians 3:26-27
Baptism is where we make a public statement about how, from that point forward, we are under new management, the Lordship of Jesus.
- A request for newness that only the power of God can create.
- A declaration of faith, not an addition to faith, but an expression of faith.
- A call for unity.
- A pledge of allegiance.
