"Under Construction"

"For we are God's fellow workers; you are God's field, God's building." I Cor 3:9 (NIV)

Meet Birgie Niemann

Degrees and Honors
Birgie earned her Associate of Arts from York College, her Bachelor of Arts in Communications from Pepperdine University and her Master of Science in Educational Psychology from California State University-Hayward.  She has been honored in editions of Who's Who in America and Who's Who in American Women.

Vocational
Birgie has spent most of her career as an administrator in Christian higher education, serving as Assistant Dean of Students at Pepperdine, Dean of Students at Rochester College, Vice President of Advancement and Public Relations at Rochester College, and Chief Development Officer at York College.  She also taught psychology and sociology at Rochester College.

Personal
When her marriage of twenty years to a minister ended in an unexpected and unwanted divorce, she struggled with God, working through many issues before she could again affirm God's goodness and faithfulness in the unpredictability of life.  She married Scott Niemann in 1993, and together they have a blended family of four adult children and four grandchildren who reside in Hawaii, Texas and Nebraska.

Beginning in the late 1970's, Birgie has spoken in at least nine states at ladies days, other special congregational workshops, and lectureships at four Christian colleges: Pepperdine University, Abilene Christian University, Rochester College and York College.

Scott and Birgie semi-retired in 2006 from Christian higher education, traveled for a year, and then relocated to New Castle, Colorado, to care for Scott's mother.  Then, in the fall of 2007, God provided an opportunity to open Niemann's Gardens, a garden center on their 4.75 acres.  A second career for Birgie, the garden center is second nature for Scott, as he grew up in the business and made it his career until a few months before his first wife died.

Birgie has a deep love of scripture and a passion for prayer, believing that God's word equips us for any circumstance we will encounter and that engaging in prayer is essential in becoming a mature woman of God.
