Psalm 23:2-3: He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, he restores my soul. He guides me in paths of righteousness for his name's sake.
Ps 62:1: My soul finds rest in God alone; my salvation comes from him.
Two Principles:
You cannot be a growing, productive, joyful Christian...
1. ...Without rest for your soul.
Genesis 2:2, 3
A. The seventh day is the only day God blessed .
B. The seventh day is the only one that never ended .
The Principle: The ultimate joy of life is resting with God.
Hebrews 4:1-11
God wants us to schedule strategic slow downs so He can restore our souls .
2. ...Without being willing to be led by the shepherd .
What do sheep do when they lie down?... They ruminate .
How does God lead us?
1. By life
circumstances
2. By conscience
3. The discipline of
suffering
4. Prayer
5. Holy Spirit
