"Son of Man / Son of God"

Son of Man was Jesus’ favorite way to identify himself (89 times):
Mark 2:10; Mark 2:27, 28; Mark 8:38; mark 10:45; Luke 19:10; John 3:12-14
1. It served his need for ambiguity .
2. It served to explain His mission in the world...in retrospect.
A. It reminds us of the human weakness of Jesus. (Heb 4:15, 16)
B. It reminds us of the human perfection of Jesus. (Numbers 23:19; Ps 144:3, 4; Mark 8:31; Mark 9:31; Mark 10:33, 34; Heb 5:7-9)
C. Reminds us of the importance of being an obedient servant . (Phil 2:6-8)
Jesus is called the Son of God fifty times in the New Testament:
(Mark 1:1; John 20:30)
1. It is the central decision of the gospel. (John 1:34; John 1:49; John 5:18; John 19:7)
2. It is a claim verified by God himself. (Matt 3:17; Matt 17:5; Matt 8:29)
3. But what matters most to God is for each us to decide who Jesus is. (Mark 8:29-38)
