The Old Testament context of Immanuel and the virgin birth.
Exodus 3:12; Judges 6:16; Isaiah 7:14; Isaiah 8:9, 10
Hear this: The name “Immanuel” is identified with God rescuing his people against overwhelming evil.
What is the significance of knowing Jesus as Immanuel?:
1. It speaks to our relationship ... We can have a relationship to God through Jesus that is like no other on earth.
2. It speaks of God’s love for us.
Phil. 2:6, 7; John 15:13-15
3. It speaks of His understanding of our pain .
Phil. 2:8; Heb. 4:15, 16
4. It is a promise that Jesus will never abandon us.
Heb. 13:5, 6; 2 Tim. 4:16, 17; Isaiah 41:10; Romans 8
