How Twelve Became
One Peter as the leader of the Apostles. What goes into leadership... 1. A good leader asks questions (Matt 18, Matt 19, MK 11, MK 13, John 21). 2. A good leader takes the initiative . 3. Leaders tend to be where the action is. 4. A leader is refined in fire by learning the hard lessons taking up the cross of Christ through their personal journey (John 13:6-10; 13:33-38;18:11;21:15-19). Two Charcoal Fires... Around one the complete and total embarrassment of failure. Around the other, the grace of a second chance . Remember: When you let people down and/or let yourself down that does not mean you are a failure... Unless you refuse to get up and try again. Your capacity to encourage others to change their life for Christ is directly related to your willingness to demonstrate change in your life. No matter how mature you become, you never out grow your humanity and capacity to make mistakes. I love Peter because he reminds me that someone who is riddled with foolish mistakes can still be used by Jesus to do wonderful things. |
