Leadership 1 Samuel 15:2,3 and 13-26; Deut. 25:17, 18; 1 Corinthians 5:9-11; Romans 12:5; Eph 4:25 FIRST PRINCIPLE: We are not called to be judgmental people, especially toward outsiders, but we do have a sacred trust to be lovingly accountable to one an other for how our lives reflect the clear commands of God’s Word. A. Jesus Christ tells us we need each other. B. We cannot help each other if we don’t have a relationship with each other. SECOND PRINCIPLE: Mature Christians know they have a responsibility to keep the congregation healthy by watching out for the members of their spiritual family in need. What usually happens... 1. We pretend like everything is okay . 2. We make excuses for the person. 3. We leave it to someone more qualified . 4. We just procrastinate . What should happen... 1. Remember, confrontation is not about you . 2. You need to humble yourself before God and ask for help before you help others. Galatians 6:1 3. You need to select an environment that reflects the importance of what you need to say. 4. Realize that with Christian truth telling comes the responsibility for what happens next . |
