Rom 12:4-8; I Cor 12:12; 1 Cor 12:18-19; Eph 4:1-2

In 1 Samuel 3 God calls Samuel to be a leader… what can we learn?

First, notice it is never too early to start.

Many Spiritual Leaders grow up in Godly homes. WHY?

• Things ingrained early stay longest
• Have fewer spiritual scars
• Feel more comfortable in spiritual environments
• Exposed to many heroes of the faith

Now there can be disadvantages too:

• You can become too familiar with the spiritual.
• You can feel cheated...missing out on the sins of the world.
• You forget how to relate to non-Christians.
• You discover spiritual leaders are imperfect.
• You can develop a legalistic attitude about those that are different than you.

Second, Most of the time God’s Call does not come in an exceptional way.

Prov 3:5-6; Phil 1:6

Third, God sometimes calls us to a difficult task.

What is your calling? Ask:

• Do you know of any good thing God would want you to do?
• Do you have the ability to help with this need?
• What is my passion and how does it relate to a need here?
• WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO?

If you respond to a need with Godly sense of responsibility to help…It’s called a “CALLING.”
