2 Cor 11:2-3
“I am jealous for you with a godly jealousy. I promised you to one husband, to Christ, so that I might present you as a pure virgin to him.”

Ephesians 5:25-32

1. Paul is writing from a  Jewish  background.

2. Any power that baptism has depends on the  promises  of the  power   of   God .

3. In Ephesus 5, every  saving   action  is tied back to Christ.

4. Hopefully, none of us were married  against  our  will .

a. It means that being a Christian is not an event, but a  relationship .

b. Christianity is a  public  commitment.

How is your baptism like a wedding?

1. There is a  music . (Eph. 5:13;2 Tim 2:11)

2. There are  witnesses  at a wedding. (Luke 12:8)

3. There are  vows  exchanged in a wedding. (Acts 8:3-37; 1 Tim 6:12)

4. Then there is a  ring . (Eph 1:13-14; Acts 2:38)

5. A wedding is where the wife publically announces her willingness to  submit  to her husband. (Eph. 5:22-24)

6. There is an appeal to a  higher  power. (Acts 8:16; Acts 4:12)

7. There is a new  name . (Acts 11:26; Acts 26:28)

8. There is a  celebration  (Luke 15:10)
