A Church on the
Move Selecting Congregational Leaders... The scriptures are specific about some of the qualities of elders but many things about how the selection is made is up to the discretion of each congregation. Here are the highlights of our process... 1. Every man, not currently serving as an elder, who receives 25 nominations from different members of the congregation will be invited to enter into the selection process. 2. Every man invited to serve will need to decide for himself if he is qualified to serve, have the time and the desire to be an elder for this congregation. 3. And then the congregation will decide if each man who is willing to serve should serve. 4. There is a group known as the Administrative Committee who has been appointed to independently oversee the selection process. 5. The selection process allows the congregation to make most of the decisions about the kind of elders we will have here. 1 Peter 5:1-4... Three names for a congregational leader. 1. “Presbuteros” which is translated presbyter or elder . 2. “Episcopos” which is translated bishop or overseer . 3. “Poimen which is translated pastor or shepherd . The decision we make will go a long way to
deciding the church we will be in the coming years. |
