6 Words The Context of Romans: 1. There is no excuse for not obeying God so mankind has condemned himself. Romans 1:20; Romans 3:10 2. However, when we were powerless to save ourselves, Jesus stepped in to provide a way out . Romans 5:6-9; 6:3; 6:5 3. But, even though we are saved from our past sins through the blood of Jesus, as Christians we still sin. Romans 7:18; 25 4. Here is the problem: the more spiritual you are, the more sensitive you are to your own imperfections . ROMANS 8:1-4 Religion: “A set of rules that one must obey to please God.” About Rules: 1. It provides a method of measurement . 2. It can provide a sense of superiority . 3. It can also provide an excuse for not thinking deeply. “Christianity is trusting in the sufficiency of Jesus Christ to make us perfect in God’s sight. And in thanksgiving for what Christ does for us.” We Have Been Forgiven... 1. It is a forgiveness that cannot be earned . 2. It is a forgiveness that is fair , not because of what it cost us, but because of what Jesus paid. 3. It is forgiveness that we should not dishonor by refusing to trust in our imperfections. |
