Lesson 2: "When Hurt Runs Deep"

Here’s the message: Deep wounds heal  slowly .

Characteristics of Hurt:

D espair  (Job 3:20, 21);

B laming  (Job 6:1-4; 8);

P essimism  (Job 6:14, 15);

R esentment  (Job 12:4);

E xhaustion  (Job 13:3-5).

Some things to remember:

1. It is OK to be  human  before God... In fact, He actually  made   us  that way.

2. When you really hurt,  friends  and  other   believers  don’t always help that much over the long run.

Eliphaz, Job 4; Bildad, Job 8; Zophar, Job 11

3. Search as you may for other options... when you are heart-broken for a prolonged time, there is  no   one  better to turn to than  The   Lord .

Job 13:15; Isaiah 40:28-31; John 6:53-69

4. The priority for the hurting is to focus on what we  do   know  instead of what we  don't   know .
