Life Matters: The
Book of James James 5:1-6 Here is one of the great principles of God: We are to love people and use things. Look at the terrible consequences of the materialistic life: 1. You hoard up wealth (v. 3b). 2. You cheat people (v. 4). 3. You are self-indulgent (v. 5). 4. You will hurt people (v. 6). Three Lessons: 1. Let us evaluate ourselves by who we are, not by what we have. Matthew 6:19; Luke 12:15 Hear this: character is more important than possessions. 2. Be content with what you have, not with what you desire . Philippians 4:12 Hear this: You can’t really be thankful for what you have until you believe you have enough . 3. Use the things God gives you to honor Him and invest in the cause of Christ. Remember this: In a tight-grip materialistic world there is no greater proof of faith than our open-handed generosity .
