Life Matters: The
Book of James James 3:1-12 WARNING: Teaching is not for everyone . OBSERVATION: Nobody's Perfect . The Message: The tongue is small but powerful (vs. 3-5). The tongue is necessary but dangerous (vs. 6-8). The tongue is helpful but inconsistent (vs. 9-12). The Application: 1. Realize there is great power in what we say out loud... Be wise . Romans 10:10; James 5:16; Phil. 2:11; 1 Thess. 5:11; Heb. 13:15; Rev. 4:8 2. Realize what we say can also do great harm ...Be very careful . Don’t be a braggart (Romans 1:30). Don’t say things you don't mean (Prov. 26:28; Prov. 12:22). Don’t be a gossip (Prov. 26:20). Romans 1:29-30; 1 Timothy 5:13 Gossip is when we share anything negative about someone, when the act of sharing is not part of the solution . 3. Realize we can control what we say with God’s help...but need to want to . Anything you want to improve to be more Godly can be improved. Ps. 141:3; Prov. 6:16-19 |
