Book of James James 2: 1-12 The Point: James is warning about making self-centered judgments based upon worldly attitudes . 1. The value of people is not determined by their bank account . James 2:7; Proverbs 22:2; Romans 2:11; Acts 10:34; Romans 5:6 2. We should live by the law of love . James 2:8-10; Galatians 5:14; James 2:12 The Lessons: 1. I will work at laying aside personal prejudices and stereotypes of people. 2. I will never value a person of wealth over a poorer person. Luke 12:15; Mark 2:17 3. I will help the church to look like all the people of our community. Acts 13:1 4. I will be free of denominational prejudices. 5. In summary, I will forsake all worldly ways of evaluating human worth. 2 Corinthians 5:16-19, 20 May the ground always be level here too. |
