Marriage
Lesson Two: “Raising Godly Kids”

Three Essentials for Raising Respectful, God-fearing Children:
1. Agree to raise your children and grandchildren according to the principles of scripture .
Five Biblical Principles about Children that can unite your marriage:
A. Children are a gift from God (Ps 127:3-5).
B. Children are to be trained to obey and honor God (3 John 4).
C. Children are born with a sin nature that needs to be restrained (Ps 51:5; Rom 7:19).
D. Children are to be lovingly disciplined to respect God's authority (Eph 6:1; Eph 6:4; Prov. 19:23; Ps 111:10; Heb 12:5, 6; Prov 22:15).*
E. Children are to be released at the appropriate time (Gen 2:24; Matt 19:5; Mk 10:7; Eph 5:31).
2. Maintain a marriage centered home rather than a child centered home (Gen 21:1-15).
3. Teach your children that marriage is sacred (Deut. 6:6, 7).
