Lesson Three: “Teaching Our Faith”

II want to tell you something that will be hard for some of you to believe... It is fairly easy to interest people In Bible studies... Do you believe that? Must be respectful not condescending... Must be educational... not filled pressure tactics... Must be two people sitting before the Word of God to learn rather than one who believes they are always right trying to prove the other one is always wrong.

  • There are all kinds of study guides...OBS...GMAM...Jules Miller…and more.

  • Make up your own...Concordance (Angels...Prayer...Bad things happen…Hell)

  • Let the Bible speak...Let God be heard.

FOUR TRUTHS:

I TRUST GOD’S WORD WITH AN OPEN HEART

  • The Bible study prayer...Psalms 25:4, 5

  • Do you believe the Bible is sacred? 2 Tim. 3:16, 17

  • God’s Word can penetrate a life like nothing else. Heb.4:12, 13

I AM A LOST SINNER AND I CANNOT SAVE MYSELF

  • What are the gods of this world and can they save you? Isaiah 44:16-20

  • But we are not perfect and cannot be perfect. James 2:10

  • Everyone who knows right from wrong chooses wrong. Romans 3:10-12:

  • The result is we all sin and are separated from God. Romans 3:23

  • No one can be right before God by trying hard to pleased him. Romans 3:20

  • We may not feel like it, but to be lost is to be God’s enemy. Col. 1:21

JESUS BECAME LIKE US EXCEPT FOR SIN SO HE COULD DIED FOR US

  • He willing took on human form to give his life for us. Phil 2:6-8

  • He became just like us, yet without sin. Hebrews 4;15

  • He wasn’t ready to be our savior until he suffered as a human. Heb. 5:7-9

  • At just the right time Christ died for us and we reconciled us. Romans 5:6-11

  • Jesus died for all and makes people a new creation. 2 Corinthians 5: 14-17

WE ACCEPT GOD’S GRACE BY PARTICIPATING IN THE CROSS

  • We are saved by grace through faith...not by human effort. Eph. 2:8, 9

  • How does one get into Christ and be part of God’s family? Gal 3:26, 27

  • The only kind of Christian there is a born again Christian. John 3: 3, 5

  • Being born of water and spirit happens in baptism. Acts 2:38

  • Coming to Christ requires a new direction in life (repentance). Acts 3:19

  • God want us to confess Jesus before others. Romans 10:9

  • We are commanded to call on the name of Jesus for salvation. Romans 10:13

  • In the Bible baptism is part of calling on the name of Jesus. Acts 22:6

  • Baptism in the Bible is immersion under water. Acts 8:36-39

  • We are united with Jesus by baptism. Baptism is a burial...An immersion under water to reenact Jesus death, burial and resurrection. Romans 6: 3-7

  • Baptism allows the power of the resurrection to give us life. Col 2:12

  • Without Jesus what hope do we have facing death? Romans 7:24, 25
