Choosing to Smile: A Study of Philippians
Lesson Three: “How to Die and How to Live”

Philippians 1:21-29

Christians concerned about their mortality should remember they need not
fear   DEATH  .

1 Corinthians 15:54, 57

Here is what happens when a Christian dies:

1. There is a   separation   between spirit and body.

John 19:30; Acts 7:59; Ps 146:3, 4

2. Our spirits immediately enter a place of   blessing   in the presence of Christ.

Philippians 1:23-25; 2 Corinthians 5:7-8; Luke 16:19-31

3. When Jesus returns the spirits of the living and the dead are place into   eternal     bodies  .

1 Corinthians 15:50-54; 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18

4. After Jesus returns all people will face   Judgment  .

Hebrews 9:27; Revelations 20:12-14

5. Upon judgment we will enjoy an eternal existence in spirit and resurrected body in   heaven  .

Once a Christian is ready to   die   in the Lord then they are ready to   live   for the Lord.

Philippians 1:27; 1 Corinthians 15:58; 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

1. We stand firm in one spirit…We are   UNITED  .

2. We are committed to contend for the faith…We proclaim   JESUS  .

3. When we understand the place of difficulties in life…We are never   ALONE  .

For me to live is Christ…And to die is gain!
