PRINT PAUL'S HANDOUT

Some things the Bible says about our fears and excuses:

I don't want to.

Heb 10.24-25 - Don't forsake assembly (it is not about me, it about US)
Matt 28 - Great commission (imperative, not a question)

Why should I?

I Pet 2.21 - Follow in His steps

There are other, better people to do the job.

Romans 8.28-31 - We are called out by God Himself.

I don't know enough. / I'm afraid I might fail.

Romans 8.26-27

My past prevents me from being part.

The blood of Christ is more powerful than sin.
Romans 3.21-24 - I'm being lawful by holding onto my sin.

I don't have time.

Time is spent like money, and it is more precious than money.
I HAVE time, and I know the good I should do.
James 4.4-5 - God desires and deserves my time.
Matthew 10:37-39 - God's work is most important.
Matthew 19:29 - God rewards the diligent.

It's too much work.

That isn't what I want to do.
Someone else will do it.
James 4.13-17 - I know the good I should do
Prov 19.21 - God has a purpose.

There's too much politics when you're deeply involved. I was hurt once.

Christ was hurt many times, and He kept working.
Matt 5.11-12 - Even the prophets went through that.

I already did a few things. I've done my time.

I Cor 9.24-27 - Run to win. This race is still running.

I already give to the church, financially.

Psalm 51.16-17 - God desires the willing, deepest part of me, not the reluctant, man-made dollar.

Conclusion:

Ask yourself and pray "What ARE my gifts? What gets me fired up to be part of God's work?". God's plan is moving forward; don't be left out.
