Lesson One: The Spirit-Led… Participate!

Holy Spirit 101:

1. He is a P E R S O N not an I T.

(He possesses Intellect-1 Cor. 2:11; Emotion-Romans 15:13; A Will-1 Cor. 12:11)

2. Because the Holy Spirit is a person, He is either in us
C O M P L E T E L Y
or he isn’t.

• 1 Corinthians 6:19

3. The “gift of the Holy Spirit”, “Baptism of the Holy Spirit,” and the “promise of the Holy Spirit” are used I N T E R C H A N G E A B L Y in scripture.

1 Corinthians 6:19-20, Mark 1:8, John 14:16-18, Luke 24:48-49, Acts 1:4-5, Acts 2:38-39, 1 Cor 12:13.

4. While we receive the same Holy Spirit the first Christians did, the spiritual gifts He provides changed with the completion of
S C R I P T U R E.

• 1 Cor 13:8-11

5. We don’t have to worry about people abusing the Holy Spirit because Jesus provides us a T E S T.

• John 16:13-15

Without Him, We Have Nothing:

1. We can’t be S A V E D without the Spirit.

• John 3:5

2. We can’t have A S S U R A N C E without the Holy Spirit.

• Rom 8:16

3. We can’t become H O L Y without the Holy Spirit.

• 1 Thessalonians 4:6-8

4. We can’t have a clear U N D E R S T A N D I N G of the Bible` without the Holy Spirit.

• 1 Cor 2:14-15

5. We can’t have as an effective P R A Y E R life without the Spirit.

• Rom 8:27

6. We can’t S E R V E God without the Holy Spirit.

• 1 Cor 12:5-7

7. We can’t W I T N E S S without the Holy Spirit.

• Acts 1:8

In Conclusion:

The ultimate purpose of the Holy Spirit is to help us become more like J E S U S everyday.

• 2 Cor 3:17-4:1

Let us not R E S I S T His leading, but allow Him to lead us in actively building this congregation together.

• Eph 4:30, 1 Thess. 5:19, Gal. 5:25, Eph 5:1
