Scripture Reading: I PETER 1:3-5
Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ!
In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through
the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, and into an inheritance
that can never perish, spoil or fade--kept in heaven for you, who through
faith are shielded by God's power until the coming of the salvation
that is ready to be revealed in the last time.
WHY I WANT TO GO TO HEAVEN
I. I WANT TO BE WITH GOD
For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain. If
I am to go on living in the body, this will mean fruitful labor for
me. Yet what shall I choose? I do not know! I am torn between the two:
I desire to depart and be with Christ, which is better by far; but it
is more necessary for you that I remain in the body. - Phil.
1:21-24
A. Greatness of God
To whom, then, will you compare God? What image
will you compare him to? As for an idol, a craftsman casts it, and
a goldsmith overlays it with gold and fashions silver chains for
it. A man too poor to present such an offering selects wood that
will not rot. He looks for a skilled craftsman to set up an idol
that will not topple. Do you not know? Have you not heard? Has it
not been told you from the beginning? Have you not understood since
the earth was founded? - Isa. 40:18-21
1. Creation of universe
The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies
proclaim the work of his hands. - Psa. 19:1
When I consider your heavens, the work of your
fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place,
what is man that you are mindful of him, the son of man that
you care for him? - Psa. 8:3-4
2. Worldly distractions
3. Live for today
II. BECAUSE OF GOD’S LOVE & CONCERN FOR ME
For God so loved the world that he gave his one and
only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal
life. - Jn.3:16
A. Who do you enjoy being around?
B. Father in Heaven; has always been concerned
For you created my inmost being; you knit me together
in my mother's womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully
made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.
- Psa 139:13-14

by God's power until the coming of the salvation that is ready
to be revealed in the last time. - I Pet. 1:3-5
