Scripture Reading: I Timothy 6:11-16
All who are under the yoke of slavery should
consider their masters worthy of full respect, so that God's name
and our teaching may not be slandered. Those who have believing
masters are not to show less respect for them because they are
brothers. Instead, they are to serve them even better, because those
who benefit from their service are believers, and dear to them.
These are the things you are to teach and urge on them. If anyone
teaches false doctrines and does not agree to the sound instruction
of our Lord Jesus Christ and to godly teaching, he is conceited and
understands nothing. He has an unhealthy interest in controversies
and quarrels about words that result in envy, strife, malicious
talk, evil suspicions and constant friction between men of corrupt
mind, who have been robbed of the truth and who think that godliness
is a means to financial gain. But godliness with contentment is
great gain.
I. King of Kings, Lord of Lords
A. Definitions
B. Excuses
C. Caesar vs. Jesus
D. Philippians 2:8-11
And being found in appearance as a man, he
humbled himself and became obedient to death--even death on a
cross! Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave
him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus
every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the
earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to
the glory of God the Father.
E. Romans 10:9-10
That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is
Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the
dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you
believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you
confess and are saved.
F. Realize the LORD aspect of our life.
II. Why is Jesus Lord?
A. Creator of All Things.
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was
with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the
beginning. Through him all things were made; without him nothing
was made that has been made. In him was life, and that life was
the light of men. - John 1:1-4
B. From the smallest to the largest in the Universe.
For by him all things were created: things in
heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or
powers or rulers or authorities; all things were created by him
and for him. He is before all things, and in him all things hold
together. - Colossians 1:16-17
C. Make it personal.
