Introduction: Angels appeared frequently in
the life of Jesus. If you are going to take Jesus seriously then you
must take angels seriously.
Text: I Timothy 3:16
Beyond all question, the mystery of godliness is
great: He appeared in a body, was vindicated by the Spirit, was seen
by angels, was preached among the nations, was believed on in the
world, was taken up in glory.
I. Jesus believed in angels!
A. End times stories include angels.
The Son of Man will send out his angels, and
they will weed out of his kingdom everything that causes sin and
all who do evil. - Matthew 13:41
For the Son of Man is going to come in his
Father’s glory with his angels, and then he will reward each
person according to what he has done. - Matthew 16:27
When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all
the angels with him, he will sit on his throne in heavenly
glory. - Matthew 25:31
B. Scriptures from Matthew:
See that you do not look down on one of these
little ones. For I tell you that their angels in heaven always
see the face of my Father in heaven. - Matthew 18:10
At the resurrection people will neither marry
nor be given in marriage; they will be like the angels in
heaven. - Matthew 22:30
And he will send his angels with a loud trumpet
call, and they will gather his elect from the four winds, from
one end of the heavens to the other. ... "No one knows about
that day or hour, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son,
but only the Father. - Matthew 24:31,35
“Then he will say to those on his left, ‘Depart
from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for
the devil and his angels.'" - Matthew 25:41
C. Scriptures from Luke:
I tell you, whoever acknowledges me before men,
the Son of Man will also acknowledge him before the angels of
God. But he who disowns me before men will be disowned before
the angels of God. - Luke 12:8-9
There is rejoicing in the presence of the angels
of God over one sinner who repents. - Luke 15:1
The time came when the beggar died and the
angels carried him to Abraham's side. The rich man also died and
was buried. - Luke 16:22
D. Scripture from John:
He then added, “I tell you the truth, you shall
see heaven open, and the angels of God ascending and descending
on the Son of Man.” - John 1:51
II. Jesus received from Angels

and he was in the desert forty days, being
tempted by Satan. He was with the wild animals, and angels
attended him. - Mark 1:13
Then the devil left him, & angels came &
attended him. - Matthew 4:11
3. At ____________.
...“Father, if you are willing, take this
cup from me; yet not my will, but yours be done.” An angel
from heaven appeared to him and strengthened him. And being
in anguish, he prayed more earnestly, and his sweat was like
drops of blood falling to the ground. - Luke 22:41-44
4. At His ____________.
After the Sabbath, at dawn on the first day
of the week, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went to look
at the tomb. There was a violent earthquake, for an angel of
the Lord came down from heaven and, going to the tomb,
rolled back the stone and sat on it. His appearance was like
lightning, and his clothes were white as snow. The guards
were so afraid of him that they shook and became like dead
men. - Matthew 28:1-4
5. At His ____________.
After he said this, he was taken up before
their very eyes, and a cloud hid him from their sight. They
were looking intently up into the sky as he was going, when
suddenly two men dressed in white stood beside them. “Men of
Galilee,” they said, “why do you stand here looking into the
sky? This same Jesus, who has been taken from you into
heaven, will come back in the same way you have seen him go
into heaven.” - Acts 1:9
C. Angels anticipate ______________________________.
God is just: He will pay back trouble to those
who trouble you and give relief to you who are troubled, and to
us as well. This will happen when the Lord Jesus is revealed
from heaven in blazing fire with his powerful angels. He will
punish those who do not know God and do not obey the gospel of
our Lord Jesus. They will be punished with everlasting
destruction and shut out from the presence of the Lord and from
the majesty of his power on the day he comes to be glorified in
his holy people and to be marveled at among all those who have
believed. This includes you, because you believed our testimony
to you. - II Thessalonians 1:6-10
Enoch, the seventh from Adam, prophesied about
these men: “See, the Lord is coming with thousands upon
thousands of his holy ones to judge everyone, and to convict all
the ungodly of all the ungodly acts they have done in the
ungodly way, and of all the harsh words ungodly sinners have
spoken against him.” - Jude 14:15
