Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. - I Corinthians 13:6

I. There are times when love must say no.

A. Love is wrong when it gives affection without conviction.

Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good. Be devoted to one another in brotherly love. Honor one another above yourselves. - Romans 12:9-10

B. We are to hate what is wrong & take a stand for what is good.

There are six things the LORD hates, seven that are detestable to him: haughty eyes, a lying tongue, hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that devises wicked schemes, feet that are quick to rush into evil, a false witness who pours out lies and a man who stirs up dissension among brothers. - Proverbs 6:17-19

I hate divorce," says the LORD God of Israel, "and I hate a man's covering himself with violence as well as with his garment," says the LORD - Malachi 2:17

C. We need to love with courage.

II. What tough love looks like.

A. Love does not celebrate what is sinful.

B. Love does not gloat over the failings of other people.

C. Love does not gossip.

D. Love does not validate what is deceitful.

If I am delayed, you will know how people ought to conduct themselves in God's household, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and foundation of the truth. - I Timothy 3:15

Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved.” - Acts 4:12

But if anyone obeys his word, God's love is truly made complete in him. - I John 2:5

E. Love can not tolerate what is hurtful.

III. What love wants to do:

A. It loves to encourage what its good & true in others.
