Safe in the Arms of Love

Introduction: The greatest truth in the universe is that there is a love out there that will never fail, one that is unconditionally safe. We don't know much about love like that.

How priceless is your unfailing love! Both high and low among men find refuge in the shadow of your wings.  - Psalm 36:7

Many are the woes of the wicked, but the LORD'S unfailing love surrounds the man who trusts in him.  - Psalm 32:10

And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the saints, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge--that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.  - Ephesians 3:17b-19

Being loved and feeling loved are not the same thing.

I. Why are we so hesitant to embrace the love of God?

A. All we've experienced is ______________ ____________.

B. All the expectations of ______________ ____________.

C. All my exposure to ______________ ____________.

D. All my expertise at __________ - ______________.

But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.  - Romans 5:8

II. Why so confident? God's love in Christ means:

A. There can be no ____________________.

Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus  - Romans 8:1

B. There is no ____________________.

There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love.  - I John 4:18

What, then, shall we say in response to this? If God is for us, who can be against us? He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all--how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things?  - Romans 8:31-32

And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.  - Romans 8:28

C. There will be no ___________________.

Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword? As it is written: "For your sake we face death all day long; we are considered as sheep to be slaughtered." No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.  For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers  - Romans 8:35-38
