Introduction: Some people will let go of anything
before they let go of their money. Would you let go of money to obtain what
you could keep forever?
"No servant can serve two masters. Either he will hate the
one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the
other. You cannot serve both God and Money." - Luke 16:13
Four chief things Jesus taught about dealing with the
money god:
!. The ____________ of pursuing ____________ through
wealth.
A. Luke 12:15
Then he said to them, "Watch out! Be on your guard
against all kinds of greed; a man's life does not consist in the
abundance of his possessions."
B. Money can't deliver on the ultimate issues.
C. Proverbs 15:16
Better a little with the fear of the LORD than great
wealth with turmoil.
D. Matthew 6:33
But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and
all these things will be given to you as well.
II. The ____________ of proper ____________ stewardship.
A. Managing money is Christianity 101.
B. Luke 16:11
So if you have not been trustworthy in handling worldly
wealth, who will trust you with true riches?
C. Using your money wisely can make friends for eternity.
D. Proverbs 17:16
Of what use is money in the hand of a fool, since he has
no desire to get wisdom?
III. The ___________ of overcoming ___________ through
giving.
A. Luke 6:30
Give to everyone who asks you, and if anyone takes what
belongs to you, do not demand it back.
B. I Timothy 6:18-19
Command them to do good, to be rich in good deeds, and
to be generous and willing to share. In this way they will lay up
treasure for themselves as a firm foundation for the coming age, so that
they may take hold of the life that is truly life.
IV. The ____________ of ____________ in ____________.
A. You can't take money with you, but you can send it on
ahead.
B. Luke 12:33
Sell your possessions and give to the poor. Provide
purses for yourselves that will not wear out, a treasure in heaven that
will not be exhausted, where no thief comes near and no moth destroys.
C. Everyone has a spiritual portfolio.
D. Luke 12:34
For where your treasure is, there your heart will be
also.
E. What God has always wanted is your heart.
Conclusion: Where will you put your heart? To give
your best is to give your all because God is the owner. To give your best
means stepping up your faith in God to provide. To give your best is to size
up your riches in light of how blessed you are. To give your best means to
lift up your heart to the Lord.
