Introduction: How do you respond to a seemingly
impossible situation? People of faith believe that God will make a way. The
story of the Red Sea shows how God can make a way when there seems to be no
way.
Text: Exodus 13:17 - 14:31
I. Critical Principles:
A. The __________ way is not always the __________ way.
1. God knows when you are ready and when you are not.
2. God is more concerned with the depth of your faith
than the speed of the trip.
B. The __________ way often appears when there seems to be
__________ way.
1. God's ways are often not understood by the world.
2. God chooses ways that bring glory to himself.
3. There is often a higher agenda at stake.
But I have raised you up for this very purpose, that I
might show you my power and that my name might be proclaimed in all
the earth. - Exodus 9:16
II. Israel's Response:
A. They __________ to God and looked for someone to
__________.
B. Moses knows enough about God to just trust him no
matter what.
C. God made a way.
1. It took faith when they walked through the canyon.
2. Psalm 77:16-19
The waters saw you, O God, the waters saw you and
writhed; the very depths were convulsed. The clouds poured down
water, the skies resounded with thunder; your arrows flashed back and
forth. Your thunder was heard in the whirlwind, your lightning lit up
the world; the earth trembled and quaked. Your path led through the
sea, your way through the mighty waters, though your footprints were
not seen.
3. Isaiah 43:2-3
When you pass through the waters, I will be with you;
and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you.
When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames
will not set you ablaze. For I am the LORD, your God, the Holy One of
Israel, your Savior; I give Egypt for your ransom, Cush and Seba in
your stead.
III. Lessons:
A. God's ____________ always have a ____________.
B. God's ____________ always calls for _____________.
C. God's ____________ always brings him ____________.
who sent his glorious arm of power to be at Moses' right
hand, who divided the waters before them, to gain for himself
everlasting renown, - Isaiah 63:12
Conclusion: There are a lot of similarities between
the cross of Calvary and the Red Sea. God is still glorified whenever people
hear the gospel and how He made a way.
