We need to celebrate the resurrection of Jesus and that He
is coming back. The past gives us hope for the future.
I. He Is _______________!
A. We look back to the day hope was ______________.
1. Ephesians 2:12
Remember that at that time you were separate from
Christ, excluded from citizenship in Israel and foreigners to the
covenants of the promise, without hope and without God in the world.
2. Romans 4:25
He was delivered over to death for our sins and was
raised to life for our justification.
3. I Peter 1:3-4
Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus
Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living
hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, and into
an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade--kept in heaven
for you.
B. We look ahead to the day when hope will be
______________.
1. I Peter 1:13
Therefore, prepare your minds for action; be
self-controlled; set your hope fully on the grace to be given you when
Jesus Christ is revealed.
2. Titus 2:12-14
It teaches us to say "No" to ungodliness and worldly
passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this
present age, while we wait for the blessed hope--the glorious
appearing of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ, who gave himself
for us to redeem us from all wickedness and to purify for himself a
people that are his very own, eager to do what is good.
3. I Thessalonians 4:13-18
Brothers, we do not want you to be ignorant about
those who fall asleep, or to grieve like the rest of men, who have no
hope. We believe that Jesus died and rose again and so we believe that
God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him.
According to the Lord's own word, we tell you that we who are still
alive, who are left till the coming of the Lord, will certainly not
precede those who have fallen asleep. For the Lord himself will come
down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel
and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise
first. After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught
up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And
so we will be with the Lord forever. Therefore encourage each other
with these words.
II. He Is ________________!
A. We emphasize the ____________ over the ____________.
Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your
hearts on things above, where Christ is seated at the right hand of God.
Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. -
Colossians 3:1-2
B. We want to ____________ our walk with our
____________.
1. II Peter 3:11-12
Since everything will be destroyed in this way, what
kind of people ought you to be? You ought to live holy and godly lives
as you look forward to the day of God and speed its coming. That day
will bring about the destruction of the heavens by fire, and the
elements will melt in the heat.
2. Philippians 3:18-21
For, as I have often told you before and now say again
even with tears, many live as enemies of the cross of Christ. Their
destiny is destruction, their god is their stomach, and their glory is
in their shame. Their mind is on earthly things. But our citizenship
is in heaven. And we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus
Christ, who, by the power that enables him to bring everything under
his control, will transform our lowly bodies so that they will be like
his glorious body.
3. I John 3:2-3
Dear friends, now we are children of God, and what we
will be has not yet been made known. But we know that when he appears,
we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is. Everyone who has
this hope in him purifies himself, just as he is pure.
C. We visualize the ____________ instead of the
____________.
I consider that our present sufferings are not worth
comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us. - Romans
8:18
III. He Is ________________!
Through him you believe in God, who raised him from the
dead and glorified him, and so your faith and hope are in God. -
I Peter 1:21
