Introduction: In spiritual warfare, there are no veterans. In the
kingdom, every single Christian remains on active duty. Every Christian is to
remain in uniform, armed, & ready for action.
Text: Ephesians 6:12-18
For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers,
against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the
spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full
armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand
your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then,
with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of
righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that
comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of
faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one.
Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of
God. And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and
requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the
saints.
The devil can not take the armor off, but God will not put it on. We must put
it on ourselves.
I. Put On...
A. You must consciously __________ each piece of armor.
1. Each piece of armor God provides is important
2. If you are not outfitted properly, you are out of uniform.
B. You must _______ certain pieces when the enemy is engaged.
1. We must face the enemy and stand your ground.
2. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
II. Add On...
A. _________ of _____________
1. This is when you consistently apply what you believe about God to the
issues & challenges of your life.
2. I John 5:4
for everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory
that has overcome the world, even our faith.
B. __________ of _____________
1. This is our confidence in our full salvation.
a. I Thessalonians 5:8
But since we belong to the day, let us be self-controlled, putting
on faith and love as a breastplate, and the hope of salvation as a
helmet.
b. Romans 13:11-12
And do this, understanding the present time. The hour has come for
you to wake up from your slumber, because our salvation is nearer now
than when we first believed. The night is nearly over; the day is almost
here. So let us put aside the deeds of darkness and put on the armor of
light.
2. II Timothy 4:7-8
I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept
the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which
the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day--and not only
to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing.
C. The __________ of the _______
1. The Word of God here refers to a specific word.
2. Colossians 3:16
Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly as you teach and admonish
one another with all wisdom, and as you sing psalms, hymns and spiritual
songs with gratitude in your hearts to God.
III. Keep On...
A. Be sure you fight in __________ name.
B. Fight with and for_________.
Conclusion: There are no veterans, only active on-duty soldiers for
Jesus Christ. We've got the best equipment and a great commanding officer. Fight
the good fight of faith.
