Text: Matthew 2:1-12

The mystery of the Wise Guys who came to see the Christ-child has created a host of legends. One is that the three Magi were 3 kings: Casper, Meltier, and Balthasar.

Psalm 72:10-11

We actually know very little about the Magi, but they appear to have wanted to know God and do his will.

I. The Magi & Herod

A. King Herod, along with the whole city, was disturbed but their presence.
B. King Herod was a ruthless ruler.
C. Micah 5:2
D. After visiting with the Magi, Herod send them on their journey.
E. Once again, they were guided by the star they had seen earlier.

II. The Magi & the Baby

A. What did the Magi expect to see?
B. Seeing the child, they "bowed down and worshiped him."
C. Conscientious truth seekers were in the presence of the son of God!
D. Having already given themselves, they gave him treasure.
E. What conversations they must have had along the way back!

III. The Significance of The Magi

A. This does not give legitimacy to __________ ____________.

1. Deuteronomy 18:9-14 denounces all such practices.
2. The Magi of this story is a testimony to divine grace.

B. The Magi's presence reflects God's desire to save ________ ________.

1. Seekers from all groups would be embraced by the Son of God.
2. The Magi's appearance began the promises to "outsiders."

C. The Magi symbolize ________ for all truth-seekers regardless of ____________.

1. A person's attitude toward truth is essential to find truth.
2. Many look like unlikely candidates for the gospel to you, but God looks for good and honest hears.

Conclusion: The Magi came, Joseph and Mary welcomed them into the presence of the Son of God. They offered their worship. God accomplished his purposes. Is He leading you?
