Team Update

Greetings from the Kabiye team! We are glad to be able to share with you the many great things that God is using our team to do among the Kabiye people. He is so good!

We want to remind you to register as soon as possible for the Together for Togo conference. Please visit www.togetherfortogo.com and register today! The conference is April 3-5 in Montgomery, AL. Come join us as we celebrate God's work here in Togo!

David, Becky, Hannah, Elijah, Gabriel & Caleb Reeves - kabiye4christ@yahoo.fr

Greetings from the Reeves family. A lot has happened the past couple of weeks! We’ve enjoyed team guys/girl trips, been hard at work, and David turned 39 on February 28th!

The last few weeks of well drilling have been trying but have brought one successful reward! After 4 drilling attempts in the village of Tchefengdaa, there is a great, working pump well thanks to David and Marks' leadership and all of the hard work put in by Kabiye men and women in the village of Tchefengdaa. As we stopped by to see the well on the way back from another village after church this morning, Becky noticed that there were 5 worn paths all leading to the well. She asked David if those paths had always been there and he responded with a smile that they have just developed over the past 3 weeks since the well has been working. Hundreds of people are walking up to 3-4 km away to get water from this well, one of the only sources of water for many kilometers around. Please keep praying for David and Mark as they are changing their approach in teaching more purposefully 3 of the men who have been helping to drill the fine tuning aspects of the drilling process. There have been problems with leadership and competition among the groups of men that have been drilling. Our hope is that these 3 men, who David had already thought to himself to be the ones to train and who “happened” (by God’s providence!) to be the same three men the other 12 chose to be leaders and specifically trained, will provide the leadership and organization as well as stamina to continue the drilling of more wells throughout this village and surrounding area.

Becky has continued weekly and bi-weekly respectively in her mentoring relationships with Mazalo and Christianne, who are both leaders in their church communities and have already begun teaching others about Jesus. She is teaching them how to use the inductive Bible study method, as well as growing together with these women as they seek to be closer followers of Jesus. Please pray for Christianne from Lassa Tchou and Mazalo from Soumdina Po Wayi to continue to be powerful witnesses of Christ’s love and ambassadors for him as they teach other women in their villages and even in surrounding areas about Jesus.

Hannah, Elijah, and Gabriel continue to enjoy school and Gabriel is making new strides as he and Asher are beginning to read simple books. They are both especially funny as they finish off the end of sentences with exclamation points by YELLING the last word. Ms. Bekah is doing a great job teaching them! We’re proud of all of the things our children are learning and so thankful for the good education they are getting with the help of our volunteer teachers: Daniel, Bennett, and Bekah and our parents who supplement in teaching special subjects, advisory roles and helping to select curriculum. Caleb is beginning to finally say a few more words and this is a joy to be able to communicate with him verbally. Becky has especially enjoyed her time with him at home the last couple of weeks as they’ve explored and played together.

Lastly, we are beginning to look forward to our furlough that will begin May 1st. We will be in the states through September 7 and can’t wait to see friends and family that we haven’t seen for almost 3 years (and some even longer!) May God continue to bless you as you support us through your many prayers. They mean more to us than you can know!
