Team Update

We have had a full last couple of weeks with teammates arriving and visitors coming and going. Our hearts are full!

We want to remind you about the 2009 Together for Togo Conference. This bi-annual event will take place on April 3-5, 2009, at the GracePointe Church of Christ in Montgomery, AL. Please mark it on your calendars, and we will be sending registration info after the first of the year. We can't wait to see our friends, family and supporters there to celebrate with us!

Greetings to everyone. The past two weeks have been really great and I want to share a little of our heart’s joy concerning what He has done. God has led our family into a place of wonderful joy and thanksgiving for each other, for our team and for you our supporters. We have spent this past week in a team formation retreat with our trusted friend, mentor and teacher Tom Moore. Tom has been with us for the past eight days and it has been absolutely a gift from God. Currently our team is undergoing a time of transition as we welcome to Kara the Kennells and the Hangens and further integrate the Emersons who have been with us for two years now. For many years we have worked and lived here with teammates who started with us in the beginning but now we find ourselves transitioning with wonderful new people who’s hearts are burning to be a part of God’s work here. The challenge is how to integrate friends of differing experience and longevity on the field into this team community as gently and effectively as possible.

Tom Moore, who has been our “team counselor” from the beginning and helped us in the formation of our team from 1998-2000 and then has helped us maintain a healthy community while on the field, came for this week and has done a marvelous job in bringing together the different components of this new/old community. The things we have shared in together this week remind me of Jesus’ warning to not pour new wine into old wineskins. Tom has helped us to develop a new wineskin for the new wine and I look forward to seeing how this community develops over the next few years. I want to thank God for Tom’s service to our team and thank our team for the way they all came to this table of communion with moldable hearts. May God continue to use us all for many years to come and may the community in which we exist be filled with the Spirit of God each day.
