Team Update
Help! The Kara Christian Academy needs to fill teaching
slots for the spring semester of 2007-08 school year. If you, or anyone
you know, would like to teach three bright and energetic 2nd graders or
their 3 younger, pre-school aged brothers, please contact Andrea Miller
at kabiyemission@yahoo.com.
We are also looking for new teachers for the 2008-2009 school year!
There are lots of comings and goings here in Kabiyeland! David is
currently traveling to Accra to take two visitors from the Reeves'
sponsoring church to the airport, and Brett just returned from picking
up a visitor from the Emersons' sponsoring church. David is also
transporting Emily, our schoolteacher for this past fall semester, who
is traveling back to the States for the holidays. We will miss her
greatly, but we are excited that she will be back in January as the
teacher for the Watchi team. Brett will travel to Accra again on
Saturday to pick up April's parents. There are even more visitors coming
in the next month or so, including the Kennell family in mid-January.
Our team is burning up the roads, so please pray for everyone's
comings and goings!
The first ever Ladies Retreat at Lassa Tchou was a big
success! This was an important event because at the annual All-Church
Retreat, the women are often preparing food or performing other duties
and can't attend a large portion of the event. Praise God that
these 25 or so Christian ladies had a chance to connect and spend time
drawing closer to God!
Reeves Family Update -

Warm
and windy holiday greetings from the Reeves family! We are finally
seeing the beginnings of the Harmattan season here in Togo, although it
seems to be coming in later than usual. We've had a great couple of
weeks hosting Hayden Smith and Rod Webring, two of the elders from our
overseeing congregation in Richland, WA. They have gotten to see and
participate in so many different parts of life here since their arrival
on the 1st of this month. They helped make bricks for the church
building in Hade Te, went out to village visits with
David, Becky, and Matt, participated in the quarterly meeting of
representatives from all of the churches in our movement, shared some
scriptures and exhortations with Christians in many different villages,
drove around town, went to the market, helped Becky with grocery
shopping, helped to finish putting on the screen on our front porch, and
among other things attended the Sunday morning worship service at the
end of the area wide ladies retreat. It has really been a blessing to
have them here and to have so many of the leaders and Christians here
meet some of our Elders from the states.
The
ladies' retreat at Lassa Tchou was well attended by
women from different churches throughout Kabiyeland and was a time of
connections and blessing to all of those who participated in the
weekend. Becky really enjoyed spending more time with all of the
Christian ladies from all over. It was a blessing to her to witness the
growth in faith and witness of the Lord's work in their lives, as well
as getting to know some women better whom she had only briefly met
before.
Caleb
also enjoyed his time with the ladies and was so excited by Friday night
that he couldn't go to sleep! David ended up coming to pick him up at
1:30 in the morning so he could go home and get some sleep in his own
crib at home!
Elijah, Gabriel and Hannah all said goodbye to Ms. Emily, as Tuesday was
her last day teaching for our team. We have so enjoyed having her and
appreciate the way she has served us and taught our children so well.
Becky and Andrea will be filling in for her until the Kennells arrive
mid-January and Nicole begins teaching the 2nd graders. We've been
getting ready for Christmas around our house and Elijah is keeping
everyone up to date on how many days are left until the big day. Thank
you so much for your prayers for our family and team and God's working
in the hearts of Kabiye people here. May God bless you!
