Team Update
Help! The Kara Christian Academy
needs to fill two (2) teaching slots for the 2007-08 school year. If
you, or anyone you know, would like to teach three bright and energetic
2nd graders or their 3 younger, pre-school aged brothers, please contact
Tracey Ries at
btries@kabiyemission.org.
This week the Rieses and the Reeves continue to
hold down the fort in Togo while the rest of the team is stateside. The
Emersons will be returning to Togo on May 2nd, followed shortly after by
the Millers on the 21st. A week later our 12 interns arrive and our
summer will officially begin!
Reeves Family Update -
kabiye4christ@yahoo.fr
Hello to each of you from our family. This update comes at a time of
heat and trials. We first want to let you know right away that Elijah is
doing well. We are so thankful for all of you that not only prayed for
Elijah but also took the time to write us and inform us of your prayers.
We have indeed been richly blessed by you caring hearts. Health has
returned to our family and we are thankful for that. The heat has been
quite oppressive over these last several days. Couple that with the
continued and common power outages and it can get downright frustrating.
Today we were without power for twelve hours because our power was being
rerouted north of us for the two year memorial of the former president.
Needless to say it causes one to ask many questions throughout the day
and of course there are no answers. Please pray for us and
for our patience and endurance.
Life continues to move forward regardless of the circumstances and we
are hanging on for the ride. We are really enjoying watching our kids
learn at school. It seems that every day they come home with some new
tidbit of information that they are so excited about and eager to share
with us. Elijah is really enjoying reading and is doing very well.
Hannah's creative side continues to bubble over in her creative and
imaginative writing. Gabriel simply enjoys being with anybody and
everybody that will hang with him and make him laugh. He and his buddy
Owen Ries are really becoming good buddies and are quite the pair when
together at school or anytime. Caleb's big thing right now is to scream,
"Dadda, Dadda, Dadda, Dadda!" over and over again at the top of his
voice and is even more pleased if Daddy joins in the screaming.
Please pray for our children, that God will watch over them.
Post all-church retreat work has been good. David has had some good
visits to the villages of Hade Te and Kaacade.
These churches are still struggling to take the big step of faith and be
completely disciples of Jesus Christ. Please pray for the
Christians in these churches and in each of the others that God will
truly become the one Lord in their lives. It is becoming
more and more clear that this is a major hurdle for these young
believers to climb over. Pray for David that he will have
wisdom to teach what need to be taught in each moment and that God's
words will cut deep into the hearts of each Christian who hears.
Internship is rapidly approaching and with it twelve new faces to be
with us for approximately eight weeks. Please pray for us as
we receive these interns and for our time with them and pray for their
final preparations. We know that God is going to bless our
time with them. Well, that is our little nutshell for the week. We are
thankful for each of you and your partnership in the work of God here in
Kabiye land. God bless each of you. We love you. The Reeves
