Team Update
Kabiye New Testaments are here! After months of having to tell people
they would have to wait to purchase Bibles, we can once again put the
Word of God in the hands of the Kabiye people...in their own language.
What a blessing! We would like to thank each of you who helped us raise
funds for this second printing of the Kabiye New Testament. Your
response was very generous and helpful.
There
are many things going on here in Kabiyeland to keep in your prayers. The
Ajadaa church, on their own initiative, is beginning a
series of evangelistic meetings aimed at reaching out to the many
non-believers in their villages. Here in Kara, the missionaries had a
good meeting with the Kara Bon Berger church last week
and we are now looking hard for land in town which we can purchase for
church use. Also, the Ewede and Soumdina Po
Wayi (pictured at right) churches are constructing buildings
this month.
Please pray for the safe arrival of the Emersons' container. We hope
that it will arrive in the Lome (Togo) port next week. Also, please
continue to pray for the Kennells' fund raising efforts.
Reeves Family Update -
kabiye4christ@yahoo.fr
Hello from the Reeves family. We are
thankful for the way that God is caring for us and thankful for your
prayers on our behalf. Everyone is healthy and doing well this week.
Praise God! Elijah and Graham were treated to a sleepover Saturday night
in honor of their good behavior at school over the past several weeks.
Hannah is becoming more and more immersed in her adventures of the Ice
Twins that she and Isaac are inventing, Gabriel has a small rash on his
cheeks and has had his share of bumps and bruises over this last week,
but is still enjoying dressing up as Super Man and has begun helping to
walk our dog Jack around the yard.
And
Caleb is growing too fast for his mom and dad! He has started drinking a
little water out of a sippy cup, with the hot season beginning here with
highs over 100 the last few days, and he is quite satisfied with
himself! The daily power outages this last week have been challenging
and sweaty but we are in hopes that our generator will be repaired
sometime early this next week. At this point we are more worried about
food in our freezer than no fans, but it would be nice to have both
working!
Please
continue to pray for God to awaken hearts and do powerful things here in
Kabiyeland, especially with the struggling Christians here in Kara, and
others in Kabiyeland whose hearts are searching for him.
We've begun praying at the Bon Berger church in Kara 5
nights a week, beginning this week, and though there haven't been many
there, or even anyone except for a missionary some nights, we continue
to feel God pushing us in the direction of calling on Him to powerfully
defeat Satan's hold on peoples' lives in this place. The month of
February is the month of funerals here in Kabiyeland. Traditionally, the
Kabiye save up money and plan the funerals for deceased members of their
family from the previous year to take place in February. As a result,
there seem to be fewer people at meetings throughout the week and even
on Sundays. We pray that God will use this month to show people here in
Kabiyeland how He has been victorious over death and has given us a
reason for joy in Him. David and Becky both have two or three new blog
posts from this last week. For more info and stories check out our
