Team Update
"You did not choose me, I chose you. And I gave you this work to go
and produce fruit-fruit that will last. Then the Father will give you
anything you ask for in my name." John 15:16
What can we do without the power of God? Very little. Basically, we are
powerless and what we try to do outside of passionate and fervent prayer
is limited.
The eighteen Kabiye churches we have helped to establish are in need of
deeper faith and commitment to God. We are faithfully teaching and
working to mature these churches and bring them to a place of faith that
is seen in the fruit they bear for the Master. However, our teaching
alone will not break ancient habits and teachings that have been passed
down from their fathers for generations. We need to pray!
We want to blanket this young church movement in prayer and ask God to
move mightily in the lives of the people here. We need to pray for God
to break the hold that Satan has on the lives of the people here. More
than 600 people will receive this newsletter. We are asking each of you
to pray every day in faith for God to bring about great spiritual growth
in these young churches. Pray that their faith will be greater than that
of the scribes and Pharisees. Pray passionately because the eternal
lives of thousands are on the line. Pray in faith because God promises
to answer.
We are yearning for God's power to work miracles of faith in the lives
of the Christians here in Kabiye land. We need God's help and we need
your help to call daily on His name. Thank you!
"Without faith no one can please God. Whoever comes to God must believe
that he is real and that he rewards those who sincerely try to find
him." Hebrews 11:6

Hello to each of you. Thank you so much for
your continual support and love that you extend to our family and our
team. We are doing well as we enter into February and are thankful that
God has blessed us with good health. However, we desire for you to
continue to pray for us as things can change so rapidly. Of utmost
concern at the moment is the reported and seemingly confirmed
yellow-fever outbreak here in Kara and the surrounding area.
Caleb
is not yet old enough to receive the vaccine and therefore we are
concerned for his health. Please pray that God will place a shield of
protection around him and that we will not be overcome with worry but
will trust in God. This is a significant concern for us and we truly do
covet your prayers. We are also concerned for the hundreds and possibly
thousands of people here in this city and region who have not received
the yellow-fever vaccination. The WHO, Red Cross and other organizations
will be beginning a mass vaccination campaign in the next week or so.
Pray that the people here will see the importance of that vaccination
and will receive it. In spite of that news our hearts are thankful and
we are really glad to be here working as the Lord has called us. The
kids have had a great week at school. Elijah continues to learn to read
more each day. He is spending more and more time sitting on his bed or
on the couch with a book in hand sounding out the words. Gabriel is
doing well also and we are really thankful because he seems to be making
some big steps forward in behavior. He is listening better and
responding to correction so we praise God for that. Hannah has some
exciting news. She and Isaac have created a blog! Rachel created this
blog for them to post poems and stories they have written, as well as
information about Africa. It should be a lot of fun for them and for
those of you who can check it out. The site is:

David has had a trying work week. Sometimes
the temptation in one's mind here is to expect bells and whistles to go
off in the hearts and minds of those you are teaching and to see great
spiritual growth all the time. Well that is simply not the case.
Particularly
in Legue Legue and Bodowdaa it has actually been the opposite. Neither
of these congregations seem to be hungering and thirsting for the
righteousness of God right now and it can be somewhat discouraging. Of
course our desire is for them to be like sponges and soak up the truths
of God and then in turn pour that wonderful message out into the lives
of their friends and family! Please pray that this will begin to happen
in these two villages. The teaching time at Lassa Tchou was received
with greater eagerness, but they need to be empowered to share the Good
News with those around them. Of concern also is the church here in Kara.
We have been in prayer a great deal for this church and for the future
work in Kara. This Tuesday the 6th we will have a meeting with the
leaders of that church and will be discussing with them how to plot a
course ahead. Please pray for that meeting. Our love to each of you. The
