Team Update

For the first time in the history of our team, all families find themselves in the US at the same time! The Rieses are into the latter part of their furlough, the Reeves are in Washington awaiting the birth of their fourth child, the Millers are in Searcy preparing for a year as Visiting Professor of Missions at Harding, and the Emersons are doing some last traveling before heading off to language school next month. All of this traveling has made it difficult for us to publish a Kabiye Team News, so we thank our readers for their patience with us. Since a lot of time has passed, we all have a lot to share this week!

Reeves Family Update - kabiye4christ@yahoo.fr

We've had a full last few weeks with family, friends, activities, and doctor's visits! Over the 4th of July week we were able to get down to Prineville, OR to visit with David's Mom, Dad, and sisters Jolene and Ashlin. It was a very restful 4 days and good time spent with them. We also had a visit from Becky's brother, David, and sister-in-law, Caryn, who live in Summerville, SC this past week. This was the first extended visit we've had with them since their marriage 4 years ago and it was a blessing to get to spend time with them (see picture)  We also had a surprise visit from Edwin and Patty Slack (former missionaries in Togo) and their 3 daughters just before the 4th of July as they were up here visiting Patty's brother and we were blessed to spend time with them over an afternoon celebrating their twins' 11th birthday. This was special for us because we were in Togo as interns when they celebrated their 1st birthday 10 years ago!

Hannah and her cousin Andrew participated in a Disney extravaganza performance at the community center last week. They rehearsed for 8 hours during the week and put on a performance Saturday. Hannah absolutely loved it and we were so happy for her to have such a great opportunity to have an outlet for her very dramatic side!! Becky has had weekly doctor visits and although her belly measured at 39 weeks (she's only 34) on Tuesday, her contractions have greatly diminished and we are thankful for that! 3 weeks ago, we found our that our little baby boy is breach and that Becky has extra amniotic fluid and is dilated a couple of centimeters. The doctor is not as concerned now, though, as the contractions have tapered off and preterm labor does not seem imminent. Please continue to pray with us for a safe and healthy delivery for both Becky and the baby. We also found out this last week that Hannah needs extensive dental work done. She had an abscessed tooth and the dentist found that she needs two others extracted because her permanent teeth are coming in sideways, as well as crowns put on almost all of her molars for cavities that are in the cracks of her teeth. They're putting her under general anesthesia for all of this, which we are a bit wary about but knowing her fear of most things medical, realize this will be the best option for all of the work she has to have done. The procedure is scheduled for August 21. Please pray that this procedure will go well and that Hannah will do fine under the anesthesia.

David is continuing to teach a class on local evangelism on Sunday mornings. In many ways this has been challenging as he prays and seeks guidance from the Lord on what members of the body in this congregation need to hear most. Please pray for peoples' hearts to be lit on fire for spreading the gospel in this community and for people to feel found in the Lord and not mistakenly think they are still lost. Pray also for the Lord to bring opportunities to peoples' lives to share their journey of faith with others.

Our last info. is about our vehicle that is still sitting in the port in Lome', Togo. After arriving in the states we found that we needed to pay $5,000.00 more in taxes than the amount we were told we needed to pay at first. So far, the Lord has provided at least $2,700.00 but we are waiting for the remaining $2,300.00. Please pray with us that He will provide this money soon so that we will have a vehicle when we return to Togo at the beginning of October. Thank you for all of your prayers for our family and the Kabiye people who are still hearing the gospel in Togo. May God bless you! Love, The Reeves Family
