Team Update

The team said goodbye this week to Regan, who's teaching commitment is up, and the the Rieses, who have begun their furlough. Before their departure, we enjoyed a celebration of the school year as the Kindergartners graduated and the second-graders received their certificates of completion. The Kabiye Team is working with 16 churches and 6 preaching points throughout Kabiyeland.

TEACHER SEARCH: We are still praying and looking for a teacher for the 2006-07 school year. If you are interested (or know some else who is) please contact Tracey at btries@kabiyemission.org!

We hope this finds all of you well. We are thinking a lot about cars this last week! We had good news that our prayers had been answered when our clearing agent told us at the beginning of the week that the $5,000.00 import tax on our new vehicle had been approved. However, later on we found out that the clearing agent was being overly optimistic and that the port authority had still not approved our tax exoneration and currently is asking us to pay the 20 percent until the status is approved. Please pray with us that this authority will approve our status and give us the $5,000.00 import tax. We also made a deal to sell our other vehicle this week to a customs official here near Kara and are very thankful to have someone to buy it so quickly and provide the money we need for the lower import tax. Praise the Lord for his constant provision!

We are beginning to pack for our trip to the states. We leave Accra on May 29 and will return to Togo at the beginning of October. We ask you to begin praying with us for a safe and affordable delivery for our fourth child in the states. We will be in Richland, Washington, at Becky's parents' house awaiting the birth. The weather in Kara has cooled off some and although Becky continues to have periodic contractions she has had a lot more energy as a result of the cooler temperatures. Please continue to keep her in your prayers.

Hannah and Elijah had a wonderful school year and we all enjoyed the kindergarten and second grade performances during their graduation ceremony this past Sunday. Elijah is reading very well and Hannah is enjoying playing her recorder and telling us all she has learned in history. It is such a joy to watch them learn and grow!

Work has been sporadic at best during the past week. Our vehicle has given us some battery problems this week which caused David to miss his appointment in Legue Legue. However, David did have a good meeting with the Hade Te and Kaacaade churches this past weekend. He taught a seminar on Christian living from the letter to the Ephesians. Today, if the car will cooperate, he will be going to Bodowda and one of the leaders from the Kaacaade church will accompany him to give the Bodowda Christians some encouragement.
