Shepherd's Corner... Pacifistically? by Dan DuPey What is this? Who would have thought that this word would be pulled? Tuesday night was Coeur d'Alene Christian School's FIRST hosted Spelling Bee. Several private schools were represented in an evening of encouragement and battle of words. Amelia Nelson battled with former CCS student, Peyton Bowen, round after round in the fifth grade contest. Peyton finally won the long lasting event while Amelia claimed 2nd place. Jennifer Rude, who judged this event, said they went through 65 words before the contest ended. Dillon Dunteman, a 4th grader from Holy Family Catholic School, won with the word "pacifistically". This word correctly defined the way to win your battles (peacefully). We also want to thank all those who volunteered to help out for the evening: Teri DuPey and Lynelle Dehlbom; Arrty and Jennifer Rude; Linda Bruner and Jessica Bruner; Dave and Terri Johnson; Mary Petersen and Kathy Taylor; Debbie Yanzick and Carrie Forbush; Jamie Bradshaw, Marci Nelson, Georgette Rude, Nancy Hite, and Sandra Welch. Thank-you! Thank-you! Over 150 parents and students turned out for the event! This seemed to also define our evening of encouragement and great fellowship with one another. Christ was exposed in our attitudes towards one another. Certainly, this is something that we as leaders want to continue to emphasize! As we greet one another, always remember this important point. Paul reminds us in Galatians 2:20 that we have been "crucified with Christ yet it is not I, but Christ living in me......" It is so important for all of us to have this Christ-like attitude! It promotes this idea of a "place to belong". It encourages participation, action, and a more willing desire to spread the Good News! Over 150 parents and students turned out for the event! |

Teen Scene... Teens, how
many of you know what it means to "Stand in awe"? We sing a popular
song of praise with those words contained within the lyrics. Does it
simply mean to stand up? In this usage stand means basically a
position or a state of being. It has nothing to do with physically
standing. We are making the statement that we are totally in awe of
our god. We sing many other songs with a similar reference. The God
we serve is absolutely awesome and we should be totally captivated
by his presence in our lives. To be in this state however we need to
know Him. And the best way to do that is to spend time alone with
Him. You all need to spend some quiet time with Him in prayer and
study. The more you get to know your Lord the more you will
understand what it means to "Stand in awe" of him.
