Good Morning Guests… Welcome to a great and warm church family. The Dalton Gardens Church of Christ exists to honor Jesus Christ by serving and loving others. Our guests are the most important people here today. Please know our communion service is open to all Christians. The nursery is located just outside the worship area. There are special children’s worship classes for those age 2 thru 4th grade that are announced during the worship assembly.

LTC for 2007 will be starting up in the very near future.  We will have an informational meeting and sign up during the ministry fair on Sunday Jan 21.  This year we will be attending LTC Northwest which will be in Prineville, Oregon.  We are excited about this new location as many churches from the Northwest will now be involved and we will be doing LTC with the young people that we go to youth rallies and summer camps with.  The dates for LTC this year are April 20 - 22 (which is not Easter).  This year’s theme is “Unstoppable” and the Bible bowl book is Acts.  LTC is for youth grades 3 -12 grade and we look forward to seeing as many as possible involved this year.  For those interested a Bible bowl study course on Acts, led by Robert Frisk is on Wednesday nights in the bus barn.
Thanks, Mark Borsheim

Shepherd's Corner...

Encouragement  by Dan DuPey

How wonderful! It is always, not sometimes, but always good to be encouraged. We read over and over again how Paul encouraged the early disciples. It is amazing to read how he, Paul, overcame physical obstacles by encouragement. He, at the same time, reminded the disciples frequently that they should be encouraged by the knowledge that they had regarding Christ and the Hope that is available for us all.

The word encouragement is based on a Latin root word, "cor" meaning heart. This is the same root word we find in courage. So, to encourage is to inspire the heart, to give strong support, hope within, confidence for the heart, and to deeply uplift one's spirit!

The word, "discourage", would mean the opposite coming from the prefix "dis". So, we do NOT want to solicit or hear discouraging thoughts or words. We do not want to deprive or discourage the heart. Knowledge of the Word and understanding the Hope that we have should give us encouragement. We should be fueled by this knowledge and anxiously encourage those around us. As we look forward to 2007, we do so with a great vision of participation within our ministries as well as promoting community awareness and outreach! We encourage you to become involved in one or more of the ministries being presented to you on Jan 21.

As we all begin to work within the body with one common thread tying us together, we will draw closer and closer to Christ. We pray that we will continue to strive to encourage one another enhancing the growth of His Church!

Teen Scene...

Teens, can I ask you a question? How do you explain a love that has no explanation? And what will happen if you let it touch your heart? In a world that cries to be loved, has God's love impacted you deep down? Do you see God as a stern figure of authority demanding that you "get it right", or have you glimpsed your heavenly father as he really is, smiling at you with impossible joy? It may seem odd to think about it in this way but God is head over heels in love with you, just the way you are. You might think that you are unlovable but God loves you. Not because you are flawless, not because you are a perfect person, but because you are you. He is intensely committed to your highest joy. His is a passionate love that gives, and gives, and gives. What he wants in return is for you to love others and share the transforming love of God with those people that you love. The thing about God's love is you have to let it in. Open your heart and feel his love!  -Scott

Ministry Fair—January 21st

Every ministry of the congregation will have a booth where you can sign up to serve.

We ask each member for just 30 minutes to tour the booths and see how we serve others...Plenty of snacks...You will literally be able to snack your way around the room.

This is one of the key SUNDAYS OF 2007. Please be a participant.

We are nearing the end of the first semester. It is amazing how far these 12 students of mine have come. Not just learning their letters and how to use them in words, but personally. It is fun to watch them in class as they become enthusiastic about reading. For some that is a new interest. These kids are learning to problem solve, a skill they will be needing their whole lives. Then there is the social grace of getting along with others, and sometimes that can be hard. What a joy and a privilege it is to share this year in their lives. I am looking forward to watching their growth for the remainder of the year.

The Auction is coming up, March 3rd. Please make plans to attend and participate in this fun evening. Each person who comes helps ensure that our school continues to touch children's lives from our community and we want to make a difference.

Another fun evening coming up is the Talent Show in April. We have incredibly talented children in this school. So this evening brings us many pleasant surprises and a lot of enjoyment. So please come and join us! It will be an evening to remember.

Have a great week! Lynelle Dehlbom, K4 teacher
