And We Love Guests...

Good Morning Guests… Welcome to a great and warm church family. The Dalton Gardens Church of Christ exists to honor Jesus Christ by serving and loving others. Our guests are the most important people here today. Please know our communion service is open to all Christians. The nursery is located just outside the worship area. There are special children’s worship classes for those age 2 thru 4th grade that are announced during the worship assembly. Our worship is based upon the simple, yet sincere model of the New Testament. It is designed to encourage everyone to be a participant. Remember, the intent of your heart is always more important than your musical skill...So feel free to sing out in joy to the Lord. Most importantly...relax, feel welcome. We’re glad you are here and love you just the way you are, and your questions are always welcomed.

Shepherd's Corner...

In our Sunday morning class a question was raised as to how we feel about change. A common answer is that we generally don't like changes because they scare us. We often feel that we are losing control. God tells us to draw near to him so that we can overcome fear, and one way that we draw near to him is through prayer. In my prayer life I always have to remind myself to turn things over to God and to quit trying to control things, because I don't have control anyway. God does. So keep praying and turn it over to God especially during changes. Life is full of changes...It is one of the ways you know you are still alive... With God’s help, changes can even be good!   -David Bruner for the Shepherds

Teen Scene...

Last weekend at our retreat we spent a good session on prayer. During this session we used grains of rice to symbolize each prayer that was offered.  Each person prayed silently and when they had finished they dropped one grain of sand into the bottle in the center of the prayer circle. At the end of the session we were all amazed at the number of prayers that went up. The teens are keeping this bottle to continue adding grains of rice as they pray for others. Our goal is to fill the bottle, and then we will start over. I would like to challenge the rest of the congregation to start your own "Prayer" bottle. Let's watch our prayer lives grow and be strengthened by witnessing God answer those prayers!  -Scott

CCS Corner: Tell Me a Story

Children enjoy telling stories….Unfortunately, there is not time in a day to hear all of them. I do listen to a few....The mind and heart of a child can inspire! Recently, the first and second graders wrote stories about squirrels. Each gave their squirrel a name. Some were mostly squirrel facts, but others were creative and full of action. The hardest part of the whole project was the editing….One little guy in particular could not understand why he had to correct twelve sentences when others only had to correct eight. I praised him for his longer story and encouraged him to finish....The stories are on our classroom door (#7). Children are not the only ones that enjoy telling stories. I do, and Mr. D. has told quite a few in his years of teaching too. I especially like using puppets to illustrate some of life's important lessons. This seems to catch the attention of a child like nothing else can. The children seem to be mesmerized. I hope you take time in your day to listen to a child and maybe tell a few of your stories while you’re at it.

In His Service, Teri Dupey
