Good Morning Guests…. Welcome to a great and warm church family. The Dalton Gardens Church of Christ exists to honor Jesus Christ by serving and loving others. Our guests are the most important people here today. Please know our communion service is open to all Christians. The nursery is located just outside the worship area. There are special children’s worship classes for those age 2 thru 4th grade that are announced during the worship assembly. Our worship is based upon the simple, yet sincere model of the New Testament. It is designed to encourage everyone to be a participant. Remember, the intent of your heart is always more important than your musical skill...So feel free to sing out in joy to the Lord. Most importantly...relax, feel welcome, we’re glad you are here and love you just the way you are and your questions are always welcomed.

Sew In Love
We’ve taken a break for the summer months except for our monthly birthday luncheons. Regular weekly classes will resume September 12, 10:30 a.m. in the Youth Center. After Bible study we will have a salad and dessert potluck. Please bring a salad or dessert to share and join us. We always need cotton fabric (solids and prints), quilt batting, and white thread. Our angel, Bea Phippen furnished us with a lot of backpacks which are almost gone. Any help with any of these items would be appreciated. We have Bible study from 10:30-12:00, then brown bag lunch and then a sewing session for those who can stay. You don’t have to sew to be part of the group! For more information or for any questions, please contact Betty Williams at 762-4485 or Betty Evans at 667-7064.

Don’t forget...You can still get your picture made today or Monday for our new directory...See Dave Johnson for details.

Shepherd's Corner...

This Sunday, Michael has chosen to speak on the communion experience that we share with our Lord each Sunday. I want you to know that the Shepherds of this congregation feel that this is one of the most important reasons that we come together each Lord’s day. This is a time that we remember the sacrifice of Christ on the cross. As for each of us, how can we show our appreciation for that sacrifice? Maybe one way is to tell our friends, neighbors and family about Jesus. Have you reached out to anyone this week, if only in an expression of love and care? Remember, someone told you about Jesus, won’t you also share Jesus with someone? Have a fruitful week.

Teen Scene

Teens, why should you seek wisdom? So you can handle situations as they come up in your life. Wisdom, above all, is skill at living. It’s the ability to navigate your way through life. Solomon says in Proverbs 2:3-6 “If you call out for insight and cry aloud for understanding, and if you look for it as for silver and search for it as for hidden treasure, then you will understand the fear of the Lord and find the knowledge of God. For the Lord gives wisdom, and from his mouth come knowledge and understanding.”

What an astonishing offer! I suppose the question really comes down to this: How much do you want wisdom? How desperately do you desire it? The Bible assures us that if you truly seek it, and look for it in the right places, that you will find it. My prayer for you today, and everyday, is that you will desire His wisdom with all of your heart!  -Scott

A simple smile and JOIN in!

How do YOU know it is September? Is it the smell of the crisp morning air? Is it seeing a few leaves fall? Possibly, it is a lighter pocketbook after visiting school supply stores! At this point, for me, it is seeing the SMILES of many returning, as well as, new students. For the past few mornings I have witnessed boys and girls excited about the new day unaware of what might be in store. The smile is contagious. As one student smiles and giggles walking along with mom, another runs to join them returning the pleasant gesture. Mom, as I might expect, smiles and turns to me with my first question for the morning.

"May I attend Chapel with my child today?" I reminded her that parents are always welcome to join us in Chapel as we start each day. On this particular day we discussed how important it is to place everything in God's hands. We sang about the "Joy of the Lord" and how important each individual student is to God. As I surveyed the audience, I noticed many, many encouraging faces. Smiles! As we should know, a smile can bring comfort to an anxious child. It can draw comfort to a nervous confrontation, and it can excite and energize a person in need. Proverbs 16:20 talks about how blessed we are trusting in the Lord. Also, Eph 4:32 reiterates "Be kind one to another, forgiving each other, just as God in Christ also has forgiven you." What a great way for the Church to start the new year! And, by that I mean school year! There are so many exciting, enjoyable ways to help in the Church and the school as well. Ask and it shall be "revealed" to you, we might say. We, as a Church, want to re-charge our mission for Christian education whether it is a Sunday morning class, Bible Hour, the Christian School, or Wednesday attendance. Let's get excited and become MORE involved. If we smile more, we just may be more encouraged to participate.
