Back-to-School Sunday... Sept. 10th

Good Morning Guests…. Welcome to a great and warm church family. The Dalton Gardens Church of Christ exists to honor Jesus Christ by serving and loving others. Our guests are the most important people here today. Please know our communion service is open to all Christians. The nursery is located just outside the worship area. There are special children’s worship classes for those age 2 thru 4th grade that will be announced during the worship assembly. Our worship is based upon the simple yet sincere model of the New Testament. It is designed to encourage everyone to be a participant. Remember, the intent of your heart is always more important than your musical skill...So feel free to sing out in joy to the Lord. Most importantly...relax, feel welcome, we’re glad you are here and love you just the way you are and your questions are always welcomed.

Double Blessings
Congratulations to proud parents, Mike and Michelle Kish on the arrival of their twin daughters, Emma Ruth weighing, 8lb. 1oz. and Grace Eleanor weighing, 5lb. 31/2 oz. born on August 12th. Michelle and the girl’s are all doing great!

Sew In Love
We’ve taken a break for the summer months except for our monthly birthday luncheons. Regular weekly classes will resume September 12, 10:30 a.m. in the Youth Center. After Bible study we will have a salad and dessert potluck. Please bring a salad or dessert to share and join us. We always need cotton fabric (solids and prints), quilt batting, and white thread. Our angel, Bea Phippen furnished us with a lot of backpacks which are almost gone. Any help with any of these items would be appreciated. We have Bible study from 10:30-12:00, then brown bag lunch and then a sewing session for those who can stay. You don’t have to sew to be part of the group! For more information or for any questions, please contact Betty Williams at 762-4485 or Betty Evans at 667-7064.

Shepherd's Corner...

THE PEACE OF CHRIST
Jesus said “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.” John 14:27

We are living in a world characterized by terror. “Wars and rumors of war” are constant reminders of the unrest brought upon us by the world. Scripture reminds us that wars and unrest will threaten our peace and safety. But Jesus promised us that He does not “give to you as the world gives.”

“Thou will keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on thee.” Isa. 26:3 “Blessed are the peacemakers for they shall be called children of God.” Mt. 5:9 “Be careful for nothing but in everything by prayer and supplication make your requests known to God and the peace of God that passeth understanding shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” Phil. 4:6-8

May God fill your hearts with the perfect peace from the “prince of peace” Jesus Christ. “Thou hast touched me and I have been translated into Thy peace.” (Augustine) You can claim peace in any kind of situation that brings you anxiety or stress. See Matthew 7:7.       -The Elders

Teen Scene

Teens, have you ever stopped to think how your speech affects your emotions? What you talk about affects the way you feel. When you talk about positive, happy things, your emotions become positive and happy. When you talk about negative, fearful things, your emotions become negative. The result is we develop feelings of fear, anxiety and worry.

We need to watch what we talk about. Often this means that we must watch who we talk to. Some people influence our conversations positively while others cause us to talk about negative things. Conversations influence the way we feel. Let me encourage you to talk about the positive or good things in your life. Let positive thoughts dominate your conversations and you'll change your emotional feelings to feelings of faith instead of fear.  -Scott

LIFE GROUPS CAN CHANGE YOUR LIFE

“So in Christ we who are many form one body, and each member belongs to all others (Romans 12:5).”

Every week many in the Dalton Gardens congregation meet in small groups. Most meet late Sunday afternoon, some during the week in homes or on the church campus. They study the Bible, discuss life issues , pray together (and usually snack together too). However, many members of the congregation are not currently active in a LIFE Group and they are missing some of the greatest blessings found in God’s Family. WE NEED EACH OTHER. We need one another to remind ourselves of God’s love, encouragement, comfort and joy. WE NEED OUR LIFE Groups to help us know and minister to one another. As we get larger in number we always need to protect our smallness by making our LIFE Groups a priority. The intimacy of the church and the real relationship, without pretense allows us one of the greatest blessings we can know. In the church lobby you will find a listing, directions and who leads each LIFE Group. You are welcome to call any group or just show up at their next meeting. If you will make a LIFE Group a priority you will have a fuller life in God’s Family.

-Michael
