Slaying Giants in Your Life
By Ralph Crump

Part 34: A Self-Examination Test of Values

This series will end for now. By the encouragement of others I’m planning on writing a booklet with questions. I have been asked by several preachers to write it on Slaying Giants In Your Life. It is great joy to announce our new preacher brother, Michael Lewis will be sharing his thoughts each week for our edification, starting this month in the Family News.

Today's article is different. It covers a test about your education, by answering these questions.

  1. HAS YOUR TRAINING GIVEN YOU A BETTER CONCEPT OF GOD? Has it helped you to see not only the glory of God’s world, but also the grace of God’s world? It is not enough to know of the creation of God; one must also know the CARE OF GOD. It is not enough to study the work of God: one must also study the Word of God. By facts we see the evidence of the hand of God; by faith we see evidence of the heart of God. There is not only the handiwork of God, but there is also a working in hand with God. Without God, all is vanity and one’s education is incomplete.
  2. HAS YOUR TRAINING HELPED YOU MAKE A SELF FIT TO LIVE WITH? If not, “Draw nigh to God, and will draw nigh to you...Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up” James 4:10.
  3. HAS YOUR TRAINING HELPED YOU GROW UP? What about emotionally? Spiritually, Intellectually? Physically? Socially? Every part of man needs educating, and the education that doesn’t cover all of these areas, isn’t adequate. Be sure you do not leave out godliness, for it “is profitable for all things, having the promise of the life that now is, and of that which is

Day of Dedication
What a privilege it is to be able to use wonderful facilities with which God has blessed the Dalton Gardens Church family. And so today we are pleased to dedicate the facilities to our Lord. Scriptures are full of wonderful examples of God-fearing believers dedicating things to God. The story is in Nehemiah of the rebuilding of the wall & gates of Jerusalem (3: 1-2) which they dedicated that. In Numbers, talking about the Levite priests (6:12 "must dedicate himself to the Lord", and in (18-6) "dedicated to the Lord to do the work". In John 10:22 we read about a Feast of Dedication at Jerusalem. CHURCH, Let us use these facilities in service to God that He may be glorified.

The Bible also directs and requires that we DEDICATE OUR LIVES to the Lord. Matt 6:33 "But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness....". Heb 9:14 ....so that we may serve the living God". And in God's love letter to us in Eph 4:12 "....to prepare God's people for works of service...." And Gal 5:13....serve one another in love". As Christians, we need to continually evaluate our motives. Col 3:23 "Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men". Church, as we move forward with a FRESH BEGINNING, always remember how blessed we truly are - "For we are God's fellow workers; you are God's field, God's building". 1 Cor 3:9

to come” I Tim. 4:8.
4. HAS YOUR TRAINING NOT ONLY HELPED YOU MAKE A BETTER LIVING, BUT ALSO MAKE A BETTER LIFE? “Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God” Matt. 4:4. “Labor not for the meat which perisheth, but for that meat which endureth unto everlasting life.” John 6:27
5. HAS YOUR TRAINING INSPIRED YOU TO BE THE BEST OF WHATEVER YOU ARE? “Whatsoever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men” Col. 3:23. IF ONE SHOULD BE HIMSELF, WILL HIS EDUCATION HELP HIM BE HIS VERY BEST SELF?
