Slaying Giants in Your Life
By Ralph Crump

Part 24:
Defeating the Giant of Death in Your Life

The Bible contains hundreds of references to death. It is a formidable foe: “The last enemy that will be destroyed is death” (I Cor. 15:26); but also a conquered foe: “Death is swallowed up in victory” (I Cor. 15:54). The Christian should be able to confront death realistically yet victoriously. Though inevitable and often unexpected, death should be rather the moment when we no longer see “in a mirror, dimly” but “face to face” I Cor. 13:12.
TO THE FAITHFUL CHRISTIAN
“We picture death as coming to destroy; let us rather picture Christ as coming to save. We think of death as ending: let us rather think of life as beginning; and that more abundantly. We think of losing; let us think of gaining. We think of parting, let us think of meeting. We think of going away; let us think of arriving. And as the voice of death whispers “You must go from earth”, let us hear the voice of Christ saying “You are coming to Me!” N. Macleod
Six Precious Promises to Fathom. Trust and Deeply Believe:
1. You can face death without fear. Psa. 23:4 “Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me”.
2. The faithful believer will dwell in God’s house forever. Psa. 23:6 “Surely goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever” See John 14:1-3.
3. Those who die in the Lord are blessed. There are seven beatitudes in Revelation. One is Rev. 14:13 Then I heard a voice from heaven say, “Write, Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord from now on. “Yes”, says the Spirit, “they will rest from their labor, for their deeds will follow them.”
4. Nothing - not even death - can separate us from the love of God. Rom. 8:38-39 “I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the LOVE OF GOD THAT IS IN CHRIST JESUS OUR LORD.”
5. There will be a new heaven and a new earth in which there

Shepherd's Corner

Peter and Paul wrote and encouraged us to grow (II Peter 1:8-11; II Corinthians 10:14-16). To grow in our faith, to tell others of our faith, and to grow as a family.
As elders we also encourage each of you to grow. One way we have done this over the years is through the education ministry. This is utilized by establishing classes for all ages. These classes are held on Sunday morning and Wednesday evening. In Acts 2:42-47 we read of how the first century Christians met "day by day". We recognize that in this modern society that we don't always have the time to meet "day by day". That is why we feel that it is so important for everyone to attend Bible classes. So we can study and grow together as God's family. But many of us fail to take advantage of these opportunities. The elder's implore you to take advantage of these opportunities. Give your children a great example by giving them these opportunities. These Bible classes are not only opportunities to grow in the Word, but a great opportunity to grow together by encouraging each other, by being together. This is why we also have LIFE groups that meet through out the week. To study God's word together, to encourage each other, and to reach out into the community and be evangelistic.
We also encourage you to have your own individual study and prayer time. A time for you to grow in your relationship with God.
It is our earnest prayer, and encouragement to each of you to attend these Bible studies in our classes and LIFE groups as often as you can. Let us come together as His family so we can encourage each other, love each other, and grow together.

WEEKLY BULLETIN

Slaying Giants In Your Life
(continued from page 1)
will be no more suffering or sorrowing. Rev. 21:3-4 “And I heard a loud voice from the throne, saying, “now the dwelling of God is with men, and he will dwell with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. HE WILL WIPE EVERY TEAR FROM THEIR EYES. THERE WILL BE NO MORE DEATH OR MOURNING OR CRYING OR PAIN, FOR THE OLD ORDER OF THINGS HAS PASSED AWAY.” WHAT IMPRESSIVE PRECIOUS, TRUE AND GREAT PROMISES.
6. Since death is swallowed up in victory forever through our Lord Jesus Christ’s death, burial and resurrection, then Satan's hold over us is forever defeated. See I Cor. 15:55-58. “Face to face shall I behold Him, far beyond the starry sky; Face to face, in all His glory, I shall see Him by and by”.

Teen Scene

I know that it has been a few years since I was in school, but I still remember this time of year. Summer vacation is almost here. I recall how excited I would get thinking about all the fun things I was going to do like sleeping in and hanging out with my friends. I don't suppose that has changed much over the years. You guys probably look forward to summer break just like I did. Might I suggest that during the summer if you find yourself with spare time on your hands to remember what we have been talking about concerning service to others. Take some time to do
something nice for someone else. Visit someone who needs encouragement. Bake cookies and go share them with one of our senior members. The possibilities are many. I just want to encourage you to share your spare time with others, and bring a little joy into their life.

I don't know what I was thinking last week when I wrote that Justin and Amy would be here this weekend. I had the date right but the week wrong. Anyway, they will be here next weekend to try out for the youth minister position. As I said last week, they are both very well qualified. They will be meeting Friday with the search committee and then on Saturday with the teens for some fun and fellowship. The plan at this point is to meet here at the building at 4PM and plan on being here till 8PM. I know that several of you are involved in graduation ceremonies and can't be here Saturday afternoon and evening. We will try and set up an alternate time for you to meet Justin and Amy earlier in the day. This is un-confirmed at this time so I will keep you posted.

Don't forget to get your camp forms turned in to the appropriate camp director. Also remember the other events we have planned. Triple play night is tomorrow. Kickoff is coming in July, as well as a day at the Fredrikson's on July 22. Parents, please remember that today we are meeting after services to discuss plans for our summer activities. I hope all of you can stay. Have a great week! -Scott Rouse

CAMP PRINCES' PINE
There are kids in the church here who want to go to camp, but do not have the funds to make it happen. If you would like to help out with any amount, it would be appreciated. The registration fee for a week at camp is $75. Please see Kim in the office ASAP.
