Slaying Giants in Your Life
By Ralph Crump

Part 3: Worry

Slaying the giant of worry is useful. Worry is useless.

He worried about the weather...He worried about his health…
He worried about his business...He worried about his wealth…
She worried about the children...She worried about her clothes…
She worried about her neighbors...She worried about her woes…
They worried about their future...They worried about their debts…
They worried, still they worried...They worried, but alas!
They worried about a lot of things...That did not come to pass! -Kleiser

Worry is unprofitable as there is nothing constructive about it. Worry merely adds to the problem and to one’s own insecurity.

CLAIM THESE SCRIPTURES TO OVERCOME WORRY:

  • “Why are you cast down, O my soul? And why are you disquieted within me? HOPE IN GOD: for I shall yet praise Him, THE HELP OF MY COUNTENANCE AND MY GOD” Psa. 43:5.
  • “Cast your burden on the Lord, and He shall SUSTAIN YOU. HE SHALL NEVER PERMIT THE RIGHTEOUS TO BE MOVED” Psa. 55:22.
  • BE ANXIOUS FOR NOTHING, BUT IN EVERYTHING BY PRAYER AND SUPPLICATION, WITH THANKSGIVING, LET YOUR REQUESTS BE MADE KNOWN TO GOD: AND THE PEACE OF GOD, WHICH SURPASSES ALL UNDERSTANDING, WILL GUARD YOUR HEARTS AND MINDS THROUGH CHRIST JESUS” Phil. 4:6-7.

SHEPHERD’S CORNER

What is the most important thing that you can do this week? What have you focused on to make your life more spiritual? How can we improve our life and still fulfill our commission to reach the lost? These questions have a direct effect on how you perceive your calling. It is important that we spend time reviewing the events of our lives and how we plan to improve our spiritual lives. The elders would encourage you to look around your influence of friends and family and reach out to them in Christian love. By studying the scriptures and praying about success in reaching the lost our lives will become enriched in fulfilling the command to seek and save the lost. Are we willing to give an account of our lives at this very moment, if we were to stand before God? To bring another to Christ is one of the most fulfilling things that can happen in your Christian walk. You do not have to have all the answers, God will help and so will the scriptures, especially if you study them often. Try reading the Bible in a year as was suggested by Charles Buchanan on Sunday. God bless you and your study. -For the Elders

Tonight at 5:30 p.m. Glenn will lead a devotional for all members. All LIFE Groups are encouraged to attend this meeting instead of their normal times. This will be followed by a finger food event, and for those who wish to stay, a "late night with Glenn" period allowing for more personal interaction time.

Slaying Giants In Your Life
(continued from page 1)

  • “And my God shall supply ALL YOUR NEED according to HIS riches in glory by Christ Jesus” Phil. 4:19.
  • “Casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for YOU” I Peter 5:7

Take one day at a time,
And don’t borrow trouble.

  • “Do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself, EACH DAY HAS ENOUGH TROUBLE OF IT’S OWN." Matt. 6:34
  • YOU CAN DISCOVER THE SECRET OF TRANQUILITY Psa. 37:3

Trust in the Lord and do good.

Teen Scene

You know what guys? Sometimes it's hard to sell people on the value of
integrity. From all outward appearances, it doesn't pay to be honest. If we look to scripture for an example of integrity I don't think we can find a better role model than Joseph. Here was a young man who was committed to integrity no matter what the cost. Sold into slavery by his own brothers, he was eventually  falsely accused and thrown into prison. Here's a bit of truth that I want you to hold onto, guys. When Joseph ran from the seduction of Potiphar's wife, he wasn't just running from a woman. He was running from anything that would abort God's purposes in his life. He chose God's way. He chose to see God's purpose fulfilled in his life rather than giving in to fleshly desire. Integrity says, what I am in public, I am also in private. Integrity is what you do when you're alone, with no one’s eyes on you but God's. Satan is looking for a foothold in every one of our lives. He's looking for those places where our public lives don't match our private lives, leaving an integrity gap. It is in such "gaps" that he finds a handhold or a toehold, gaining access into our lives.

If you choose to live a life of integrity like Joseph, everything in your life must be filtered through the grid of God's approval. Everything that comes into your experience is filtered through God's fingers of love. What a wonderful assurance! And you can be sure that if God allows something to touch your life that he will also give you the grace and strength to deal with it. It's a fact that the most crucial decisions of your life will be made when you are alone. Decisions of integrity are made by young people who find themselves alone in a room and choose to turn away from the temptations of the evil one. The most significant choices you make in life won't be made in the middle of a crowd, with lots of people standing around. They will be made in the private times when only God sees what you're doing. Choose wisely, my young friends!  In Him,  Scott

FAMILY NEWS

C.C.S. School News

I'm sure the new year will bring new, exciting, and maybe unexpected happenings. I am teaching a variety of subjects and grades this year. The second graders are in the process of writing their version of "The Mitten", but some have chosen a sock instead. The third and fourth graders are studying about birds in science and will go bird watching in the spring. The eighth grade math class is almost finished with Algebra and will soon go on to Geometry. Something surprising may be just around the corner?

We have been saving "Box Tops" and have recently received a small check for about $21.00 and have collected $200.00 worth previous to Christmas break. We also have saved several hundred Campbell Soup labels and are saving for a ball rack. Our "Coins For Kids" fund is up to $97.00 and will be used to pay for a surgery for foreign child. We need $250.00 for this, so if you feel blessed, please help us to be able to send our contribution soon.

Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow! The children would enjoy this as much or more than I would.

In His service,
Teri DuPey

Tweeners Winter Retreat
This year’s retreat will be held on Jan. 27th- Jan.29th at Camp Princes’ Pines. The cost will be $35 for families, $30 for couples and $20 for singles. This is to cover the meal cost and pay for the use of the campgrounds. If money is the only reason you will not come, please talk to Tim Frahm. We do have a little extra left over from other events and we can help out. If you have never been, it is time to come and try it out! We have so much fun and fellowship. Tim Frahm will be presenting the Bible lessons and services on Sunday morning. There will be lots of fun family and kid activities. For those of you who have not been before, be prepared. Bring sleeping bags and blankets to keep warm at night. Don’t forget plenty of snow gear and maybe bike helmets for the little ones on the sled. Be careful not to bring too much. It all has to be snowmobiled in or carried. Please, Please sign-up and pay your money as soon as possible! It is so hard to plan and buy food with no money and no idea of who is coming. The sign-up is on the kiosk. Any questions ask Tim and Alyssa Frahm.

SISEMORE NEWS
An end of year letter from Jerry, Pam, and Levi provides us with news of their activities. Levi will finish his school at SIBI in May. His next life changing event is the planned marriage to Sara Word in June or July. Jerry continues to make trips to Russia at least twice a year. This year a church was planted in city of Lipetsk. It is a city of about 450,000 and the effort is initially doing well.

Jerry had a hip replaced in October and looking forward to getting the other one replaced in early summer. He commented that all the walking in Russia wore them out. Pam is doing part time secretary work and part time quality control for care homes for the mentally disabled. They concluded letter saying, "We think of you often and pray God's richest blessing on you!".
