Jesus

The Reason for the Season!

Christ is the only avenue to our Heavenly Father. And for all who through obedience to the will of God have been buried in baptism, our Lord has added us to His Church. And what a true blessing it is to be part of the Kingdom of God here at Dalton Gardens. Because of JESUS, we are family.

Here are just a few of the many activities this Church Family has enjoyed this month of December:

  • Our "Tree of Caring" with ornaments containing the wishes of children dear to our church family - Thanks Loretta Robinson and her special helpers.
  • Christmas "Food Baskets" - Thanks George Wuest and friends.
  • A Fellowship Potluck to honor our military members. Poinsettias honoring the memory of loved ones.
  • Coeur d'Alene Christian School Craft Fair. Also the CCS Christian program.
  • Prayer Breakfasts every Tuesday - "Divorce Care" group every Friday with DC4Kids. Thanks, Margie Waddell and Amber Wright.
  • Elders, Deacons and Staff Christmas Party at the Cd’A Resort.
  • Life Groups Christmas Party - Thanks Jack & Dee Pierce. Senior Saints Holiday Gala at Ivan & Sally Archers’. Tweeners Christmas Party at Tim & Alyssa Frahm's. Teen Christmas Party at the Freshour's.
  • "Money Trees" presented to our Church employees Kimberly Howard and Sandra Welch.
  • The Church has enjoyed an improved "Family News" Bulletin, and improvements in the Audio-Visual Ministry - Thanks Steve Taylor.
  • "Fill-In Preaching" by many members as we continue our search for a Pulpit Minister and a Youth Minister. Our heartfelt thanks to all you men, and also to both "Search Committees".
  • So many wonderful "Improvements in our Facilities" and our thanks to all that have helped in that on-going process. God knows who you are!

The Lord has provided so many avenues for members of His Family here at Dalton to draw closer to one another and to serve others in our community. PRAISE GOD FROM WHOM ALL BLESSINGS FLOW!!!

SHEPHERD’S CORNER

In Matt. 1:22-23 the passage studied shows God’s great prophet in Isa. 7:14 “Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel. In this verse, the Hebrew word for “virgin” is Almah, and a number of Bible verses have translated this simply as “young women,” thereby supporting many theological/liberals who deny the virgin birth of Christ.

Matthew translated Almah by the Greek word Parthenos, which never could be used for anyone other than a virgin. Mary and Joseph, of course, understood and believed in that way. So did Paul, who said that “when the fullness of the time was come, God sent forth His Son, made of a woman” Gal.4:4. No man had anything to do with it. As the angel told Joseph: “ … that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost” Matt. 1:20 The conception and birth of Jesus did, indeed, require a mighty and unique miracle. But how else could the infinite God ever become a man? Without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh..” I Tim. 3:16. PRAISE GOD FOR GIVING US HIS SON. John 3:16  -by Henry M. Morris

WEEKLY BULLETIN

New Year’s Eve Parties
This year I would like to have small New Year's Eve parties. The reason for this is so that you can invite your brothers & sisters in Christ and friends to your house to bring in the New Year.  This would be a great way to increase God’s kingdom.  If you would like to host a New Year's Eve party let George know at 772-6247 or
georgewuest@dgchurch.org

Annual Corporate Meeting will be immediately following Sunday morning worship on January 8th. Everyone is invited to attend.

Web Site - To prepare for January 7th and 8th check www.waterburychurch.org. One can read or listen to sermons of Glenn Tunick as well as making quick links to topics and papers.

January 7 & 8 are Significant!
This weekend Glenn Tunick and family of Waterbury, Connecticut will be with us to consider our Family and Youth Minister position. It is important for teens to be involved in activities planned, parents of teens to associate with the family, and for all members of the congregation to be in worship service. Glenn is to do the preaching that morning. Sunday evening at 5:30 pm Glenn will lead a devotional for all members. This will be followed by a finger food event, and for those who wish to stay, a "late night with Glenn" period allowing for more personal interaction time.

“For nothing is impossible with God.”  -Luke 1:37

GETTING TO KNOW THE TUNICKS

Glenn Tunick was raised in a Christian family, the oldest (and only boy) of five children. He attended Abilene Christian University and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Youth and Family Ministry. During his senior year at ACU, he became engaged to Trenee and they married after he graduated. Glenn and Trenee have been married for 11 years and have two children, Abigail, who is 9 years old and loves gymnastics, and Stephen, who is 8 years old and has autism. Glenn has been a full-time youth minister for 11 years. He has served on the board of directors for two different Christian camps, serving in multiple roles at camps from counselor to lifeguard to director. He has led numerous mission trips, has coordinated and spoken at youth rallies, organized and led regional events, consulted with smaller churches regarding youth ministry, served as an interim preacher, led Bible studies, taught classes, counseled teens and families, as well as many other ministry tasks.

In addition to his ministry roles, Glenn has also been a manager at Blockbuster and been a substitute teacher in both public and private schools. Currently, Glenn is serving as the full-time Youth and Family minister at a congregation in Connecticut for the last 4 1/2 years and has completed about a third of the course work for his Master's Degree in Counseling. Trenee will be finishing her Associates Degree in Human Services in May of 2006 and plans to pursue a Bachelor's degree in Social work in the near future. Trenee's family lives in Spokane, and while Glenn and Trenee are happily serving the Lord in Connecticut, the idea of being near her family is appealing to both of them. Glenn loves teenagers and has a passion and a gift for youth ministry. He continually strives to help teenagers and their families develop a stronger faith in the Lord, as he endeavors to do the same.

WHAT’S HAPPENING ON THE TEEN SCENE?

busy-busy-busy-busy-busy-busy-busy-busy

The holiday season is always a very busy time of the year for everyone, even for teens. We have so many things on the calendar in the next few weeks that I’m not sure where to start! First of all, I would like to invite any of you teens to stop by the office and hang out whenever I am there. My plan is to be in the office on Monday and Tuesday from 5:30-8:00 pm, and on Wednesday from 5:30 pm until class starts. We need to start planning for upcoming events like mid-winter retreat and Miqvah. Come by and say hello and talk for a while. Getting back to the calendar, we really do have several things coming soon. The first is on Tuesday 12/27. All teens are invited to a party at Ian and Josh Nelson’s home. See the note from Marci in this copy of Family news. The first weekend in the new year, 1/7 & 8/06, we will have Glen Tunick from Connecticut here to be considered for the full time youth minister position. More news about this will be shared later. On the weekend of 1/14 & 15 the Senior High guys will have their annual retreat and work party at Princes Pine. Winterfest 06 will be held the next weekend 1/20-22 at Northside in Spokane. Moving on to February we will all be going to camp for mid-winter retreat on 2/10-12. This retreat has always been a favorite for everyone.

As I said to start out, we are going to be busy in the next several weeks with all these headline events, not to mention our regularly scheduled time for Bible class, etc. I would like to start meeting again on Friday evening for fun and fellowship. Come by the office and let’s talk about this. If you would like to have a voice in any of the planning for one or more of these events, please come and see me. I’d love to talk about that or anything else that’s on your heart!

In Him, Scott

CCS Auction Note
Keep the school auction in mind on store clearance items to donate. Our theme is ‘A Night of Knights’. We can use items for Silent Auction and Live Auction as well as drawing prizes. We also can use anything depicting our theme for decorations. The date for the auction is Friday, April 7th, 2006. Remember to keep your eye on the school bulletin board in the foyer for more information. Thank you for your support!

Dave Hopkins..... is still looking for a full or queen sized bed. If you have one, please call Dave at 659-9463.

Attention Teens:
You are invited to a snow fun day at the Nelsons’ house on Tuesday, December 27th. Bring your snow clothes and snow toys and meet at the church building at 11:00 a.m. for car pooling. Call Marci Nelson (682-2811), Lynelle Dehlbom (762-1290) or Patty Welter (773-8673) so that we can plan for you to be there.

Appreciations from Priest River
The congregation wishes to convey their great appreciation to Dalton Gardens for involvement and support given this past year. A special thanks to those who traveled up to teach and preach during the time of Ray and Karen Rayburn's absence. Rae Marie Killingbeck wants to let us know she misses fellowshipping with this body of Christians. They have us often in their prayers.

A Special Thanks!
Dear Elders and Church family,
Thank you so much for your love, care and thoughtfulness by presenting us with the beautiful Christmas trees and for the special contributions that hung in each tiny stocking. We appreciated all that you did to make our Christmas extra special for us and our children.
Love in Christ,
Sandra Welch & Kimberly Howard
